While the internet a huge asset for sharing information, music, videos, and opinions. It's also created a shit ton of communities and made the internet not only a source of information, but entertaining. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy these stupid forums and the stupid people in them. The internet also houses so much more than this, now instead of renting movies, we're renting a service that stream movies to us, isn't that god damn amazing? (except internet companies like Comcast in the US, are charging the consumer to use Netflix, which is bullshit). It brought us online gaming, it expanded independent media, and foreign media. The internet has done a lot more than it's credited for.

The people using the internet is a whole different subject all together. We're able to share uncensored opinions or make up these opinions, we are able to create personas and live lives through them, we're able to argue about something from anywhere in the world and get a reply to that message within seconds. While it has created a barrier, it has opened up more.

That being said the dysfunctional people will become more dysfunctional as they are able to get away with a lot on the internet in contrast to what they'd get away with in real life. Arguably this can instead be linked to them, their addiction to the internet is only their fault, not necessarily the fault of the internet.

Just gotta say, sometimes I don't want to have to deal with the bullshit of people go get my rocks off. It might not be a surprise to say I'm single, so without the guarantee of regular sexytimes I have to fap to something.

Also, the internet has made me what I am: well-educated, a douche, and immeasurably sexy.

Well, it has made life far more convenient for one thing.
And in theory, it should make for a far more educated population of people. With information being so widely and easily available.

As Nat said, the internet is not at fault for the issues, the people using it are. If it has caused any harm, it's the people themselves, not the invention. That said, I still think it is one of the greatest inventions.
