What's this? A room full of active portals on OUR VERY OWN BOREALIS SERVER?!



I wonder where they lead.

 

Those portals lead straight to hell. Kinda freaky down there really.

 

And what if I told you that SMP doesn't support travel into and through the Nexus yet?

 

Well then, I would be interested in knowing where they lead. Who knows, I may just join the server one of these days and find out.

 

I step into the back left portal...



And am greeted with this:

did it create a portal so you can go back or did you have to walk all the way back there again? LK must be pretty pissed right now that you managed to teleport into his base unless it was publicly open.

 

You need to have constructed your destination portal too. He's okay with it, I used it as a demo for full-network portals.

Basically all the portals in the nexus room are one-way and closed off from the gate network. The only way someone can access them is if they can build a portal, learn the destination portal's name, and set that as the destination of their portal. In contrast, LK's one is "open destination" and can be dialled to any similar portal on the central network (there are two near the spawn we used as tests).

 

ahh I see so they act like stargates (I just got that mod for GMOD). how DID you find out the portal's name?

 

Exactly like Stargates. How'd I find out the portal names? I built all seven portals currently in existence on the server.

 

I like minecraft. I really do it's just those damn creepers always making me delete my save. I managed to make a floating rock to monitor where the creepers spawn. once day hit night, 12 creepers spawned EVERYWHERE. I was stuck in that rock.
