groh, Usually opening the UMD slot fixes it. I have it too. There should be a red glowing light behind when you turn it on.
Also, I often get the random "Do you want to exit game" thing. Not all the time though.
Not sure about disc cannot be read.

Yes. Not sure what caused it, but I don't mind much. Gotten used to it. Maybe since I don't really play action games and I can take my time.
