Not many teenagers tell their parents about their girlfriend or boyfriend. You can't really learn from experience from books or TV shows.

If you mean learn through actually having a relationship, What if you're like one of those love freaks.If you break up, you cry yourself to sleep and cut yourself everyday. I know a few teenagers who can't control their emotions. Some of them give up love in their teenage years. That's why I don't think learning through experience is a good idea.

Love is like a sandwich the more you experiment with it the more it can become better or worse.
It also works with other pastries but thats beyond the point.
