I'm saying that a spam thread indeed is real nice, but i don't think it's a real good idea using it as a Realtime discussion stuff.
Just because:
- There are different pages so you can't see all of the messages (HEY LOOK IT'S PAGE 2500)
- Messages are kept forever, it's cool too, but no use here
- Takes time to load the pages and stuff

Whereas, IRC was made for realtime channel chatting, so it perfectly fits in the use you're making of the forum
Just try it, you'll see :s
