Nope, this is my only computer :(
I don't think it just the one CD though, I tried putting in a different CD that had photography crap on it and when I tried to open it came up with the formatting thing.

are you sure its original? hm... my only guess on that is,it was poorly burned, meaning, it was just dragged from a source into the cd not thru a nero burn or other burning program.
could you give a better picture?

Cause that one is blurry and i think the cd has 473MB, i think. Did you try to click next on the formatting? or do you have other problems like this in the past? have you ever tried installing a game before using a cd?

Yes, the size is 473 MB. I clicked next to formatting but it was still the same thing, thinks it's a blank disk.
And I've installed it at least 4 times on my very old crappy windows 98. (Crap, I just remembered that I DO have another computer, although it's quite old).
Okay, I'll do what you said. How do you save contents of a CD to a flashdisk though?

just copy the entire content, like highlight everything in the cd and copy/paste it to the flashdisk. thats what i do with my netbook. it doesnt have a cd drive so, i install everything using my usb flash disk

I guess either the cd is damage or there are something wrong with your optical drive.

My simple explanation would be that the CD is messed up. Did you get this game new or used?

Return it to the store if you bought it there. If they cant find the problem, let them install it into your computer. When i bought a laptop for my friend way back, The OS and some other programs are to be installed and they gave me an option if i will do the installing or let them do it for free, when i have a trouble installing a game, i think the Call of Duty or something like that, i told them i had some problems installing it and they installed it for free.

and also, be sure to back up your laptop's content before doing any installing.

an extra note: why buy sim 1 when there is the complete set of the sims?

I doubt that I'd be able to take it back, most shops down here don't let you return anything unless it hasn't been opened and you have a receipt.
I bought it because that was the only Sims available were the Sims 1, 2 wasn't even out at the time. Besides, I doubt number 2 or 3 would run on my laptop anyway.

He cant. He said he has crappy internet.

    @diskjocki
If you bought that a long time ago, like 2 years or more, probably the cd has been corrupted by external forces. If they are poorly stored, like some of my cd collection, i forget to return them in their casing and left in the cold, damp areas of my room for years, the cd's seems to corrupt and becomes unreadable by my computer. Thats why I use romulation, most of my cd's are unreadable.

I thought it was basically the same thing as someone downloading roms, it's legal as long as you have proof of owning an original copy.

    Dammit, oh well. Shit happens

thats not legal either. Roms are legal ONLY if you dump it yourself from your own legal copy. Same for software/games/films, backups are legal only if you make said backup from your own original.

Oh okay... have you tried installing the game on another computer to make sure it's the disc not the drive?

Also you could try making an image of the cd with alcohol on a xp machine then use daemon tools to mount it. Hope this helps

If the drive can't read it full how can the image soft read it to?

    It's a good to try.
