Most Americans are pretty primitive, so automakers invented the dumbed down version of a car, called an automatic. Annnnddd down goes efficiency, performance and everything else about the car.

I wish we banned automatics so that it would deter some idiots off of the road, and overall make the general population better drivers.

A 6 year old could sort of learn how to drive a stick by playing a driving simulator...at least the basic mechanics.

Nope, simulators don't have clutches, you need the clutch to start the car and change gear. Really good drivers can drive the car with minimal pressure on the accelerator and the clutch, no brakes at all. (you arent supposed to though. it wears the clutch plates out).

The kid was late and missed the bus.
The kid did not wanted to get punished, so the kid took his daddy's car and attempted to drive to school.
It was a foolproof plain, except the fact that the dashboard was a little too high for the child to see over.

The only part he would have to learn is the clutch, but still, that can be learned by watching any racing movie. I'm pretty sure he would have a hard time with learning the pressure of the clutch to start rolling forward without stalling. That took me awhile to get down. My friend was able to roll forward without clutching, and would shift gears at the right spot without the clutch as well. I have no idea how he did the latter, but the gear just fell right into place.

But if we banned automatics, I couldn't drive at all... I'm left handed, so my right hand isn't coordinated enough to use a stick...

on a slightly off topic note: I can hear my brother in the next room playing San Andreas at this very moment... LOL

Speaking of left handed driving, I want a car that has the driver seat on the right side. I wish we had those here in the states.

I know people who can drive like that, using oppisite hands (as in left handers using manual), you need to ethier keep trying or give up!

Some people sadly can't drive manual cars...but automatic won't go away-they cost more in fuel and repairs but lazy people keep them going!

In aus, you can get a permit that allows you to drive with an american (or left hand drive) vehicle, i seen that new camaro once here (you know-bumble bee XD) but you have to have a big plate/sticker/sign telling other road users LEFT HAND DRIVE ONLY on the back...

I drive manual-but I can't drive automatic after a tramatic experience with my dad's old automatic-but as it turns out it was the cars fault (tap the brake gentle, and the whole cars stops...mine just does what it's meant to...)...

That and I think it's girly/lazy/waste of cash driving a automatic car...

As for the kid in the story-that's another excuse for parents not watching over the dam kid!

God dam-if someone commits violence it's not the game-it's because he was born/become/tramatised to be violent!

If a kid reacts after a massive gaming session being cut off (ie parent's stopping him) then yes, blame the game...but blame the parents for not acting sooner!

If they die playing an online game for weeks straight-we all know who's fault!

...here is my story-I am a game addict with a rather violent disposition-but you see me at work you'd think twice!

Why violent-your never taught how to socialise, kids around me had lving parents, where's all I saw mine do was fight-and thus I learned (the wrong way) to stand up!

Sure I am playing/online for 12 hours a day most times-but like a smoke it keeps me inline...

otherwise-give me something to do-yeah I'll even work 24 hours!

...yep, I get stir crazy XD

But my brother may end up in a story like this (or worse) and so I'm gonna have to move out...(a little version of me-freaky)

Before I do I hide mum's car key's-so easy for him to steal since he has been TAUGHT by mum to unlock the car-and being auto-he can do it...

Mine is manual-and because I keep my key's on me he can't take it (but my car is nicer than mums XD)

Thus the end of my rant.

This story is old, but still...I have 2 kids ages 7 & 8. They are not allowed to play any GTA...those belong to mommy and i play when they go to bed.

...If my kid is 6 and misses the bus, even though i live in a safe and stable neighborhood, i know about it. I actually watch my children and if you cant, then get a babysitter. You shouldn't be asleep when they need to get to school.

...OK, so the kid plays GTA and learned to drive the car. It's not GTA's fault he got in it. It's GTA's fault that the kid stayed alive while driving it. I DO blame the parents for this entire story. My kids play video games and the most they don't go around acting a fool and doing dumb things.

yeah u got to get the kids off playing them games but even then there are still not so mature games that teach you how to drive either way that kids pretty pro ish wonder how he reached those pedals lol but i'm thinking him seeing his parents drive taught him some of the basics as well

Who the heck lets their child play GTA anyways? It's bad enough that we let them watch horror movies before bed but freaking GTA?! Seriously!

This is old. But funny. He played GTA and jacked his parent's car and drove it... yet it crashed to a light pole :p
