    Thank you, I've actually thought something similar, minor criminals should be made to farm, more serious crimes could have some other labour. I think some prisons in the US have tried this to some degree of success.

    i saw a movie when the prisoners were chained to one another and they would be breaking rocks or something like that, yea they could do that

    i agree with you about who it really affects. but that is irrevalent. tha fact is that the crime was commited. leys make a comparison on who who willl have a greater pain. the murderes family or the victems family?? is a clear case. both of them died but the thing is that one is innocent and died at the creul hand at another insane criminal and the other died owing to the creul heart less selfish wicked act he has commited.

    chain gangs did actually get used, although in the UK I think thats going back to victorian times. (there were also workhouses back then). One of our political parties is actually trying to bring chain gangs back, albeit slightly updated, i.e electronic tags instead of chains.

    well that would be very usefull and they should aim to make them see that they shouldn't have commited the crime... not give them luxury and everything else

    oh its funny, the united states that is... to be in the marines you have to have a high-school diploma. to be in the army you just need to show up. in the marines you need a almost spotless crimimal record, in the army you can serve your jail sentence there. i think its hilarious

    Yes, but my point is that the criminal isn't punished all that harshly. He/she lives in relative comfort until he/she dies a painless death. Why shouldn't they be made to suffer? Why not be punished brutally?

    because that is just inhumane..... would you carry out that sentence if you had a choice?

    and what the criminal did to the victim and the victims family is humane?

    What made them do that? i'm sure a little kid wouldn't decide to go kill a person for no reason. I'm sure he/she must have been going through some sort of problems and hardship in their lives, so technically it wouldnt be their fault... since they might have taken it out of anger or some other uncontrollable emotion

    Actually in a lot of cases it IS intentional and premediated. Look up Jamie Bulger

    The death penalty should not be applied, ever. Murder is murder.

    that was very interesting mr loony.... i am in shock right now.... why did they choose to do that must have been a pyscological problem

    they were not diagnosed with any in the psychiatric assessment, the evidence stated it was intentional and rationalised.

    Yes. Someone committing murder one, in my opinion, should have a leg amputated or something similar. It means, not only will they be punished, it'll also be a lot harder for them to repeat their offence.

    @loony
    is that the only case like that?
    and in my opinion...... something MUST have been wrong with them..... two 10 year old thinking like that?..... whoa... maybe someone got to them... put stuff intheir head... . i just still cant believe that story

    its the worst case in recent times. Not the only case. Because the boys were under 16 when they committed the crime, they were/will be released at 18 and their criminal record will be erased. They will also be issued new identities to stop the public going after them.

    No. Under the age of 18, people can't really think properly. The 10-year old kid would regret it a second after he killed his parents.
