Well the first boy plows at a rate of 10 squares per hour and the second boy plows at 10.6 quares per hour (8 divided by 45, then multiply by 60 to get the hourly rate)

    After 1 hour:
    First Boy: 10 squares
    Second Boy: 10.6 squares

    After 2 hours:
    First Boy: 20 Squares
    Second Boy: 21.2 Squares

    After 3 hours:
    First Boy: 30 Squares
    Second Boy: 31.8 Squares

    After 4 hours:
    First Boy: 40 Squares
    Second Boy: 42.4 Squares

    After 5 hours:
    First Boy: 50 Squares
    Second Boy: 53.0 Squares

Now we have a problem... We have gone over the 100 squares limit....

But as you said... They were both given half the field each to do.. So in fairness they only have to do 50 squares each, one would finish a small portion of time before the other... So they both should get paid $50

Did you really try to caculate it? You should've read the question better ;D
BTW this one came from prof Layton as well. Doesn't anyone have original ones?

Yeah I did, but I wanted to make people think that I was getting it wrong before hand... That is if the stuff that I have written is correct.

I didn't know it came from Layton...

Mine a couple of pages back was original :D but the answer was already posted, because nobody could get it right.

    Just testing you all....

    ok, here's a genuine non-Layton puzzle;

"I seek the one who deals in lies and deception,
but not among us, but always around us.
I seek the sound of the puzzled man
    when pondering a hard thing.
I seek to string them together,
and create a thing that I certainly wouldn't kiss!"

This riddle needs to be solved. Can you do it?

(Note: This is a very familiar puzzle if you have read the most famous book series present in today, but ended last year.)
