reputation also represents the person who you are.
peoples representation of you becomes reflective to you.

rep is never about who you are
    its about what people think!

What people think of you influences who you are, too.

There are important reputations, and then there are unimportant ones.

Your high school reputation is, in the grand scheme of things, largely unimportant. So you were a geek, or a jock, or you slept around a lot, or were a prude, in the end, it doesn't really matter.

But once you get out in the real world, a reputation you build for yourself is important. Hard worker, trustworthy, or are you lazy, scam people, cheat, etc? Without a reputation it's hard to find good work if you are a contractor. Like me, I'm an controls engineer. I work for a company where I build and program industrial machinery. But if I worked for myself, a reputation would be important, who is going to hire someone to do such important, multi-million dollar work if they have no reputation, or even worse, a bad reputation (slow, poor quality work, etc).

reputations are important in outside life, but not online (except when games and ideas are involved)

Reputation as you define it, is meaningless.

Reputation by classic definition is important.

I don't care if you are the goth the rich kid or the nerd. What I care about is if you are the liar(L), the fecker(F) or the c*nt(C). Unless you are one of them you have no hope. You can be a really good person and be honestly nice while being LFC. A good rep means an understanding of time and place, nothing more.

But you are only 16, so you don't know what a reputation really is :) You just know about high school cliques.

Your age is in your profile, assuming the year of birth given when you register is true, which I'd say most of the time people put the correct year down at least.

(unless it's a porn site, then they put over 18 even if they aren't).

Good, you are a young guy, you should feel like that. If I may be so bold to suggest that you can take my previous post as something to think about. There is nothing criminal in my idea, but I assume you would agree there is nothing idealistic in it either.

well i'm 17 and i have a job, i tried to upgrade from working at an icecream shop (blueseal) to working at a resturaunt (vikings try! seriously that's the name) they took a look at my resume and said "no, youre not ready for the service, your 3-4 people meeting job is not like this, there is more chaos that need to be handled" so i'm stuck with icecreamville. i'll try to go to college and get a desk job, eat at that place and tell the manager to stick it.

job rep: important for financial security
