I've had something similar like this on a 4GB Sandisk microSD. But it involved the AceKard2. I found out the reason: don't make a 4-level folder hierarchy. I'm a bit of a neat-freak fast-load person... So my hierarchy of folders for, say, PKMN Platinum was /Games/M-P/Pokemon Platinum.nds. For some odd reason, that's what caused my card to "format" itself. The disk still had 2GB used, but there were no files or folders. I used some recovery tools and in the long run after getting my files back, ALL the files were CORRUPT!!! So I reformat the card, and use the copies of roms I had stored on the HD. This tells you something guys, backup your saves once in a while!

It is possible, this .bat virus called hard drive kill pro, some dude named MumbaJumba made it, it can kill all hard drives, any removable disk, and with certain cd/dvd burners can actually screw up any cd or dvd you have in your disk drive.

software cannot destroy hardware, its impossible.

there is a program callled killdisk, but all it does is irrevocably destroy all the data on the disk.

my freind has used hard drive kill pro on his own pc, (using his old, extra had drive, and disk drive) the drive no longer functions.

it wasn't really old, just the on he wasn't using at the time, it worked perfectly prior to running the .bat file.

that's bullshit. If loading the processor 100% damages it, its not properly cooled. Nothing to do with a virus. If heavy usage of ram causes it to fail, it was faulty to start with. Nothing to do with a virus.
