It might not have been a nobody at the time. Otherwise, yeah true, solid proof might've prevented a lot of killing. Mind you, the Old Testement God loved a bit of killing, so meh.

Well, what documentary to watch today. It's either Religulous or An American Carol. Hmmm.... ::)
I plan to watch it (Religulous), of course, just to see what the fuss is all about. I reserve my views until then, however. Wait, has anyone who posted on this thread actually watched the movie? >.>
Oh, and I take a minor offense to
News flash: why would you live in a country where 52% of the population is Muslim? You BETCHA they're going to do that. Either get over it, or move somewhere else.

wooot....i really hate statements like this.
I found this while surfing randomly a few days back. It indicates the "mercy" of God as told from the Christian Bible.

    We are all god.
    Not collectively, but individually.

The world we see only exists inside our brain as a simulation.

    My two cents...

    $0.02

But I digress - so long as people are different on the face of the Earth, people will think differently, and if those thoughts include religion, then so be it. I mean, it helps people, and I don't have anything against helping people. It might cause problems, too, but that's to be said of any difference - I don't think that groups form at school or work because someone gave everyone a number and told you to find other people with the same number.

... and that 'mercy of God' page was pretty funny, but apparently extremely frightening for my mother, who launched off about 'teh dangorz of teh interwebz.'

But I still want to be a Reitard. Sign me up, but only if there's kool-aid~!

well until you do find a way out, do everyone a favor and stop complaining..... I have many Muslim friends, and although I may not agree with their beliefs, I show them the same respect they do for me and my beliefs (I am Greek Orthodox). Coincidently, I also have many atheist friends who DO NOT sit there being sad, pathetic, petty morons and mocking those who have religious beliefs. That does not show that you are superior to everyone around you, but rather that you are a ignorant and disrespectful and obviously think very highlyyyyy of yourself....pffftt why??? what's there to be proud of???????
..... after reading a few of your posts in this forum, mate, you have some issues.........
Sorry to be rude, but many of your comments are offensive to people who are religious. If you choose not to believe in anything, that's perfectly fine, you just don't need to be so rude about it...........

    Religion deserves no respect.
It has done nothing to earn it.

I see what you did there. The way I see it, atheism and theism and all their derivatives are beliefs. However right you think your beliefs may be or however wrong the others are, you still can't force it upon other people. That goes for theists and atheists alike. The fact that you are making this into a pseudo-war on religion is turning yourself into a missionary for your beliefs.
As for me, you could believe in Jesus or the flying spaghetti monster for all I care: I don't give a shit, and will still treat you like a human being.

You may think that all religions have done absolutely nothing to earn respect, but in my opinion, and in my own personal experience they HAVE! I'm not pressing my religion or any religion for that matter on you. I just find it strange that you have so much hatred for something that you don't fully understand. As you say, people must EARN one's respect.... The same way you think religion hasn't earned respect (which is just plain stupid as so many people do in fact follow a religion) YOU have very obviously not earned ANYONE'S respect. Throughout this whole "debate" you seem to keep throwing these rude and hate filled comments. Quick question, what the hell has religion (any religion) ever done to you? If you have a legitimate reason to hate religions, I'd be very interested to hear it (and I don't mean that sarcastically! I actually am genuinely interested! Dont take what I say into offence, I'd just really like to hear what your opinion really is without all the disrespect!)

It's better to believe in something & hope for the probably unrealistic than to believe in nothing at all 8)

    No.
It's better to be realistic and understand the world than to delude yourself and be a prick because of it.

Mate, out of every single person that has posted here YOU are the only one being a prick!!!
Yes, it is better to believe in something rather than nothing: it gives your life meaning, a sense of direction...
again, im not trying to be a sarcastic bitch here, but 'Mere Christianity' (C. S. Lewis) is an interesting read if anyone is interested. It's just his views on why he believes in God.

Do you honestly think that so many millions of religious people are delusional? You honestly think that your ONLY purpose in life is to make a bit of money then die? So everrrrrrything from the moment you are born, to the moment you die is worthless? meaningless? if you think that those who believe that their lives are worth more than that (because of their faith) are delusional, then you must be delusional!!!

Actually I agree with him, organised religion is just mass mind control, and also makes money for some people at the expense of others. Some religions, such as scientology, are much more blatent about the money aspect than others. Religion causes far more problems than it solves and has no place in the modern world.
