So insane has unlimited then? It's always best to know everything about your internet and ISP. Most ISPs charge you if you go overboard, by the number of GBs X amount of dollars, some just limit your speed to dialup until it restarts. Mine is 15GB for $30, 256k, drops packets every few hours on bad days now. Yeah, recorded TV on your computer takes a lot of space, on PC User, said that a rugby match recorded would take about 5GB.

mines not a limit its a recommendation. i can go over but if i do month after month they will drop my speed.
and that does go also for people who have unlimited, i know loads of people who have unlimited and received letters saying if they continue to download the amount they do their speed will be dropped.

Some ISPs (in the UK anyway) charge you extra for every Gb you go over your allowance. It can really add up and some of them don't even warn you if you've gone over.

I just looked mine up and it's unofficially capped at 250 GB per month. (unofficial meaning that I looked it up from a third party, and not directly from the source since it isn't stated.)

Edit: Actually, there isn't an official cap as of yet. The original cap ranged anywhere from 100-600 GB per month. Very few people have gotten disconnection letters that failed to state how much was too much.

The 250 GB cap will be implemented later.

Wow. That's really generous. Makes you think: "What's the point?". It might as well be unlimited.

Actually, Comcast (ISP in the US) has been under fire lately for trying to implement such a bandwidth cap. Anyways, I think speed (as in download/upload speeds) throttling would be more effective rather than bandwidth caps. I download a lot of media overnight and I'd hate it if my ISP started to cap my bandwidth. :(

my bandwidth cap is 4GB a month between 4PM and midnight, 50GB a month the rest of the time. If you go over either, they throttle you to 128kbit/s
