I've played both before, although I'm very much a beginner. I also tried playing bass tabs (on an acoustic guitar).
Piano and guitar are extremely similar so you should have no problem converting sheet music into guitar tabs it just requires to know every note on the fretboard which with a few rules is very easy to do.
