A NDS is better for gaming, and a PSP for a multimedia player.

One of the biggest drawbacks for me is that the NDS can't emulate Super Mario RPG, however, the PSP could do it almost flawlessly, minus framerate issues.

The flashcarts give the NDS something it normally doesn't have, multimedia. The PSP has that right out of the box. And if you're pretty savvy with the battery, you can hack the PSP without spending a dime.

I wonder how many people actually use the dpg format for movies...Great idea and all, but this is like the HD DVD of Blu Ray. It is a great idea, but the obscure format makes it a DS-only thing and that limits the use of the file. However, PSP formatted videos can play on my PS3, iPhone, and computer, and there's tons of people putting their videos in PSP format to fit all 3.

That entire quoted first paragraph screams PSP features and it's only because of the flashcart that it's able to do those things...and I can browse the internet without using a RAM expansion. It sounds like you just discovered the NDS's true potential using a flashcart, but let's face it, the PSP had that from the very beginning. Big whoop. I can play FF7-9 FLAWLESSLY (as well as any other PSX game...) and that right there is one of the greatest feats of emulation.

agree with it,so there are many users of nintendo ds while psp users are less.cuz they didn't want to buy such a media player.

I challenge this statement. The DSi can browse on it's own, having a better layout and control than the PSP's.

If you want to talk about the DSi, then make a new topic comparing PSP Go to DSi. This topic was strictly comparing PSP phat/slims to NDS phat/Lites.

Also, you're cross comparing. A DSi should only be compared to the PSP Go. That's like comparing a PS3 to a GC and saying PS3 is obviously better. In this case, it doesn't matter because both of the handhelds are a step backward as far as I can see. The design of the PSP Go is horrendous and I haven't heard of a single game that's on the PSP Go. The DSi, although better than the DS Lite has too many piracy issues, and I'm not gonna run out, buy a DSi, and a new flashcart only to have a facebook app update that screws you over.

psp has way better games, graphics, sound, it's more powerful and the screen is bigger than the ds.

BUT, the ds has a touch screen.

    but overall psp.

Hey man, read the polls. Choices are... PSP, Nintendo DS/ DSi or Both are level. It was a valid comparison within the correct situation given in the thread. If the DSi weren't to be compared to the PSP, where does it say so, besides of course by your opinion.

Just because a poll has those choices doesn't make a valid comparison. The fact that a poll doesn't survey a set number of people (let's say 100) makes the poll invalid, and inconclusive because it could keep going indefinitely. You make it seem that the poll is law on this particular forum, when really all polls are inconclusive.
Read the topic. PSP or NDS.
If you REALLY want to get technical, all posts concerning the PSP Go and the DSi are off-topic. Which is why when I compare, I only compare the PSP and the NDS and not their successors, because the topic only asks for that specific generation.

You're comparing between generations. (The fact that the topic asks for a specific generation, and you go to a different one also makes it off-topic) That's like comparing the 360 to a GC, or a PSX to a SegaCD. 360 is better because it has online play, a HDD, a button on the controller itself to turn the system off for the truly lazy, blah blah blah, and the GC doesn't. No shit. Let's add a few more options into the poll completely unrelated to the topic and that would make it valid...not. You're deriving the validity of your point off a poll, assuming that the poll is valid.

    the poll is valid
my point is based on the poll
    therefore, my point is valid

Compare the DSi's web browsing to the PSP Go's and that's it. Otherwise you're setting up a strawman and that only weakens your point.

You do not look at the things in reality.
Tell me,which console is more advanced here?
Just look at the graphics on PSP and on DS.

Well if that's the way you go, then hell yes. The DSi's broswer is better than the GO's.

Oh, by the way that proposition you just made is very much valid.

    But is the argument sound?

Having never touched a DSi or a PSP Go, I'll have to take your word for it.
As long as you compare products of the same generation, then that's fine. I don't really care on the outcome after that, as long as the method used is reliable.

DSi and DS lite are from the same generation. They play the same games. And the PSP 1000 and the PSP Go are pretty much the same thing. Its only the outside that has any significant changes.

  15. insanecrazy07

    insanecrazy07 Well-Known Member

They have significant hardware changes. GBA and DS are from different generations, yet the DS can still play GBA games. The DSi plays games a regular DS cannot.

Even the transition from PSP1000 to PSP2000 has a few hardware changes (more RAM), but those are the same generation because it doesn't introduce a new medium.

If the newer model can play games that the older model can't, then it is a new generation.

The psp screen looks so unprotected!
And meaby the graphs on the PSP are better but the gameplay is less good.

It is your taste. For gameplay: DS
    For graphs: PSP

they both have there ups and downs but i gotta go with ds it has much more variety and more popular games but when a good game comes out on the psp its usually way better than a standard ds game
