Yeah, let's raise a generation of children interested not in classic works of literature but in the instant gratification found in video games and the internet! That'd undoubtedly improve their literacy, too.

I'm not sure wether to LOL or to locate more points to dis-mount this so called fact.

What can I say-a nintendo junkie always defend's his consoles XD

(Nintendo owns the portable scene-not in power but in sales and because they have been doing it for ages-they know what they are doing-if they give up on home consoles ethier arcades or even a psp-like console will rise from the ashes...)

Can Guitar Heroes compared to the DJ Max you mentioned earlier? I believe it would rock the DJ away easily right? And upcoming is the Drum Heroes.

BTW, how is the games above? Not sure if it suits you or not.

Yes, because you can totally compare DJ Max to Guitar Hero, just like how you can compare Mozart to a rock band group, Metallica.

In case you didn't catch my sarcasm there, the real answer is no. You cannot compare DJ Max to Guitar Hero for numerous of reasons: Guitar Hero requires the use of a peripheral controller (i.e. that plastic guitar); DJ Max Portable doesn't require one at all. Guitar Hero focuses mainly on one genre of music (which happens to be rock); DJ Max Portable has a multitude of genres. And finally, DJ Max is keynoted (that is, pressing a button makes a note sound); Guitar Hero just plays the guitar track as long as you hit the notes right. To add on to the last point, "strumming" a plastic guitar during idle play triggers the screech noise, not a guitar sound as it should.

Also, your games to compare to the PSP games I've mentioned either so far pale in comparison, or are definitely out of its league compared to the PSP's supposed counterparts. Blood of Bahamut by the way, is hardly comparable to Monster Hunter due to gameplay dynamics.

Well, its totally fine as one man's poison is another's man cure. But to me I don't really think that DJ Max is that good as its just another Bermani port for me where you will need to hit all the proper notes to complete the game (pretty much like a dance dance mania sort of thing) other than you play it with ur fingers and yes...as u will repeat again each of it denotes a note but is that so great? All it does is "please press the button with the proper timing" and at the so call multitude of genre is still limited to some re-mixes and disco songs. As for the Guitar Hero or the EBA it's more of a different approach to the game by adding new gameplay in it not each press produce different sound or stuff. Well, i wouldn't say Guitar Hero is plain boring judging from the sales across all the platform.

Mmm.....can't compare or out of league. Unless you compare the games in terms of graphics else I don't see how NDS games not trump PSP at the moment. To me personally its the gameplay and story that matters. Just like people like Crisis Core so much to me it's more of a graphic showcase and no where near the good ol' FF7 that it's based on. I must agree PSP always win in terms of graphic but the games are just plain boring and flat (there are some exceptions but there are so rare). To me i am amazed by the NDS ways to showcase the game more than it's capability with a limited gamesize (by a less than 256MB??)

That is just my opinion. I still prefer the NDS compare to PSP which start to gathering dust unless the new games come along quickly.

Is it me or is this guy trying to be more random than me?

Anyway-in regards to topic-you can never compete the 2 systems in terms of graphics-the psp won that-nut in terms of new gameplay it's ds that wins..

But what is the best overall is another story.

I love how you just threw in "Dance Dance Mania" (or perhaps, you mean Dance Dance Revolution) in which it's a dancing game, NOT A MUSIC GAME. There you go again comparing things that are not on equal footing. Oh hell, of course! That's what we are doing in this topic regarding PSP vs. NDS! That is, two gaming systems, each with different features that hardly make them comparable to each other!

Going back to your remark on music games...
Oh, and what does Guitar Hero do? Don't you have to strum notes on the plastic guitar with "proper timing" as well? Isn't that the whole point of music games in general?

Also, your claim of "multitude of genre is still limited to some re-mixes and disco songs" in DJ Max made me laugh. It's obvious you didn't play DJ Max enough as you don't know what you are talking about. Otherwise, please, do post a list of at least 25 songs from DJ Max along with the respective genres for each. Either way, your claims would be proven wrong.

New gameplay such as? Drums? New instruments? Aren't those the features that Rock Band already beat Guitar Hero to the punch? Oh please, I'm dying to hear how Guitar Hero adds "new gameplay". I eagerly await your elaboration on that.

Also, basing the game's fun factor off of its sales is laughable. Sales do not determine the game's overall fun factor, or whether its boring. Not to mention, there are many games, such as Deus Ex, and Homeworld that have been overlooked by the masses, yet still feature outstanding gameplay.

For the record, the reason why Guitar Hero is selling well is due to Activision's marketing strategy, not because the game (along with each release) is necessarily "good".

I don't compare games based on graphics at all. Otherwise, I wouldn't believe that games such as Advanced Wars - Days of Ruin, Geometry Wars Galaxies, Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney, and Suikoden (all for the DS by the way) are awesome. Again, I see more of your baseless claims being thrown around as you don't give specific reasons or details to back them up. I wonder what games you have played on the PSP so far as you claim that games on the PSP 'are just plain boring and flat'. Care to list the ones you have actually spent a good deal of time on, besides Crisis Core?

No, both the PSP and the DS cannot be compared as they are both portable consoles with distinct features.

Wow, hold your horses. You are saying Rock Band in PSP is gonna be the same as Guitar Hero or the overall consoles? Coz as far as I know the Rock Band for PSP is just another DJ MAX with another name.

Well, I am not too sure how you want to define the DJ Max gameplay since you don't agree with my definition. But if you would like the definition from Wikipedia it would be "As in terms of gameplay, DJ Max Fever is similar to other music games like Beatmania or Guitar Hero. When the notes are pressed in time, the combo counter will increase, missing the note will cause the combo counter to "break" which will reset the combo. As that combo count climbs, a Fever Gauge will fill. When the Fever bar is full, tapping X will double the combo and score, then triple if it is maintained properly and will continue to increase. On the right side of the screen is the healthbar. Once it's depleted, the game is over". You maybe right that I didn't play the game long enough as I don't see any play value in it as in other games (maybe it's not my cup of tea in terms of pressing game correspond to music as I have Patapon which is waayyy better than that) to see all the songs. Yeah I know you will mumble how un-related is Patapon and DJMax as much as others above. To me it's just another rhythm game of pressing correct button. BTW, I have the DJ Max Fever version here.

New gameplay as in Guitar Hero? If you compare Rock Band with Guitar Hero I think we need to go elsewhere, but if you are comparing it in the portables as in GH for NDS and RB for PSP then maybe we can do it here as I played both version. GH for NDS was special due to the add-on which gives you a different way to play the game while Rock Band is like Amplitude(you should know this game) gameplay with no simulation of doing any of the music instruments which it was supposed to be. I did not asked for score perfect simulation of the instrument for a game. If yes then portables are not int the list. Oh ya, the RB for PSP does not have a multiplayer mode like the GH do on the NDS. It's a shame as the game was decent itself (BTW, plz dun misunderstood I flame RB here as I like RB for PSP too but not too much on DJ Max i guess). And you can connect GH NDS to GH Wii too.

I labeled them flat and boring coz it's been done and plyed before in the PS2. I do spend times on the games and some REAL good games that hard to comeby. If you really insist I come out a list for you on games I enjoy for PSP it will be easy as it's quite limited anyway but the NDS will need more space then. My point here is PSP needs to do better in the game developement and be constant on it and not in short spurts.

Games I like and spent time on the PSP

    1. God of War (same PS2 feel but nothing wrong with it as it's cool)
    2. MGS:portable Ops (now this is how game should be in PSP)
    3. Jeane D Arc (something to look for in SLG)
    4. FF Tactics (sort of PSX port but still its nice)
    5. Disgaea (a new one coming soon...nice)
    6. Patapon (unique)
    7. Loco Rocco (same as above)
    8. Wipeout Pulse (nothing can goes wrong with Wipeout, right?)
    9. Tekken
    10. Soul Calibur (no need to explain)
    11. Pangya or Hot Shot Golf (casual playing)
    12. Pursuit Force (nice different gameplay)
    13. Burnout (Nice full speed racing game)
    14. GTA

See, I do play PSP games and like them but all others just look like and play like playing a PS2 game. Well some may argue its nothing wrong but I am having a higher expectation on the PSP since the spec is that good.

Is it? MMmmmm....I am trying to be as neutral as I can be, lolx. Sorry if it sounds bias but just my opinion. I personally was expecting more from the PSP but maybe too much.

    Hi
I was asked on games that I spent good deal of time on other than FF:CC so it's out of the list. Dissidia looks cool and play well but maybe it's not suit to my gaming taste. It's a good game nonetheless.

Anyway, Hypr you got any good recomendation for the PSP? Need to take it for a spin while waiting for the new Disgaia.

Plz dun flame me for typo on names as I can't remember all that well.

There's GTA on the DS, and it's a lot better than the PSP GTAs.

The PSP isn't supposed to innovate, the point of the PSP is to put the power of a console in your hands. I've said this the page before. The reason why it plays like a PS2 is because it's supposed to emulate it.

I have both and I play my PSP a lot more. There isn't much on the DS for me besides games every once in a while. Really, all I play is the official Nintendo licensed games or some Capcom games. Which don't come around too often.

Rock Band isn't anything like DJ Max. Rock Band has drastic differences to DJ Max. Rock Band for the PSP wouldn't have worked with multiplayer because the whole point is to move from different instrument tracks, which is really only possible on single player. It'd be boring if you were playing just one track, because it's simple, even on Expert.

I hate GH on the DS as the add-on that they have is incredibly uncomfortable. I don't know how that stupid add-on went through Q&A because it cramped my hand up a lot more than using the actual DS. Also you can't really play it if you're left handed, because the strumming hand would cover the screen. I can't play the game much because I'm left handed.

If you were expecting innovation for games, please look else where. The PSP and all newer generation consoles (except the Wii, which isn't being utilized well at all) lack innovation as well. Can you really blame them? You can't really innovate inside a series and you can't innovate because there's not much new for games besides the controller methods.

That being said, DS has it's moments, but I find it's entertainment in the fact that it has TWO screens, not it's touch screen. It's touch screen aggravates me more because devs think that they HAVE to use it. Controlling Max in Scribblenaughts was the stupidest idea the devs could have done, and they did. The game annoys me to no end because of it. There's very few games that I feel used the touch screen well, just like the Wii, but I can easily find more fun games than those ones.

I mainly use my PSP as a emulator machine that can emulate most older consoles. There's the few PSP games that come out every once in a while that keep me entertained for a couple weeks but that's no different from any DS game for me besides Pokemon.

Are you sure there are more games in the PSP than the NDS? Well, I do agree on the graphic but the game numbers even if we take off all the shovelware from the list I still think the NDS have more games than the NDS.

    Both systems have shovel ware.

zero probably hasn't studdied the full range of games-or how many are substandard.

It happens-honestly just want both system's games to be cheaper so I can buy some-the companies need cash as well to make more...
