Even Tekken 5 is a good mention. The online games actually have a decent online setup. It's not like the WFC Nazism going on where you HAVE to have a person's friend code (assuming they added you back), to see them online. God forbid they switch DSes on you and another hour goes by because they don't understand that it changes on them. What? I can't just connect to a local server and encounter all kinds of people just roaming around? Does Nintendo even have local servers? It seems like I see Japanese users every time I connect to play Mariokart, or the Wi-Fi games room in Platinum. Dissidia IS awesome, and I'm sure it will sell like hotcakes when it reaches the US, due to its obvious popularity. And for a game with a lot of hype, this game doesn't disappoint...Square never disappoints unless it's an estrogen-filled, bubbly, bouncy rehash of an epic game...but I did find the Hot Springs scene, which at the time, I didn't know was so controversial. Rehash in general doesn't do well. Now if only Dissidia were a full-fledged 3D Action/RPG, like Kingdom Hearts, minus the kiddie Disney crap... Crisis Core will do for now, but I'd love to have a ton of cameos from all of the games into one, being able to explore different sections of the many worlds of FF, not the Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Mickey's Palace. There's another worn out mascot, but at least they don't put him in the middle of Pirates of the Caribbean or something... And they certainly don't have Mickey (insert Sport name here), and to top it off, motion/stylus controls! (5 people just went, "Ugh!") Pick your poison. Stylus control should be for those Touchscreen games that you find at bars, and FPS specifically for lack of better controls. That's really it. Jack Tretton my ass. (Mario-->Too cool for Mario-->Fanboyism-->Jack Tretton-->Jack Tretton's ass-->(wikipedia moment)-->Jack Tretton has a huge ass-->Jack Tretton my ass. Yeah makes sense) Let's replace Mario with another "mascot," let's say for instance, Crash (using the same assumption that Crash is as equally popular as Mario). Can you imagine having Crash (or even Spyro) on every fucking game in the store? Can you imagine having Master Chief Golf, Racing, Tennis, Soccer, and Basketball? Mario did it, and it gets a little redundant after awhile, especially when you see that the majority of the games that you have are all Mario. It'd be just as redundant and might I add, intolerable if someone else did it. Would you be "too cool for Master Chief" if they had a splurge of Master Chief spin-off games? Not "too cool," more like sick of the whole concept.
Never heard of Jack Tretton before now, but no matter how you try and put it, claiming that Mario is the protagonist of "the best game of all time" is a fanboy statement. Truth means facts, not opinions.
really? i don't think you can disregard a game as the best of all time when it single-handedly brought the videogaming industry back from the grave. don't believe me? you think im just stating my "opinion"? check this out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_video_game_crash_of_1983 Without the NES and Mario games that came along with it, there wouldn't even be videogaming. And don't tell me that isn't fact. Oh yeah, how shallow can you get? People see Mario in a game, and automatically dismisses it? Why don't you actually TRY AND PLAY DAMN GAMES! If i may recall, almost every game Mario was in had ratings ranging from Decent (Mario and Sonic) to Just fucking awesome (Super Mario Bros. 3, Mario 64, SSB Melee). It really boggles the mind that some people really say the stupidest of arguments.
Zang, not everyone likes Mario. Technically ROB saved the video game industry, without ROB the NES would of never been in stores. That's a different debate altogether though.
ROB was the camouflage so that toy stores wouldn't reject the NES, because the videogame industry back then was DEAD. I know not everyone likes Mario, most of them think they're too cool to play a game with a 40 year old plumber as the protagonist. But completely saying that the games he's in suck is complete denial. The sales, and the ratings disagrees with those people. As for me, I can say that God of War is nothing but shallow eyecandy, Dissidia is an ok game that kinda resembles DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi, and Monster Hunter is a boring MMORPG-like game because i played those games before!
Stop assuming that everyone disregards Mario for those reasons. And regardless of whether or not he brought the gaming industry back from the grave, that doesn't automatically make his games better or the DS a superior console. Just as some people like Mario, others like God of War, Dissidia or Monster Hunter. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
People always have different opinions, it has nothing to do with sales and ratings, technically ratings of games are opinions. I for one do not like Mario that much, platformers don't do it for me. I can only play them for a couple of minutes. Like opinions different people like different games, oh by the way, I can use the same argument you used. I played Mario games before. Dissidia =/= DBZ the fighting system is quite different and deeper than it looks. Hypr didn't mention a few of my favorites: Patapon and Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! :\
lolz so controversial anyways i agree that everyone has his/her own opinion both PSP n NDS are great but i like NDS more
Most of the spin-off Mario games ARE pretty good games, in fact, I have just about every damn game that he is in. They're good games, but I'm just getting fucking sick of seeing Mario over and over and over and over and over again. My analogy still stands.
Well if you don't like platformers, say you don't like platformers, because Mario games are not the only platformers in the industry. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Maximo, and even Little Big Planet are platformers. I know Dissidia is much deeper than DBZ Tenkaichi, with the Brave and the HP, as well as the Limit Attacks. I know that. But the thing is, it still looks like an upgraded DBZ Tenkaichi game.
Not to meaning to offence but to each of the games mentioned above the NDS could easily have a few games that PSP will not have too. * Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (Not all people like it but I must say it's the main reason PSP is still alive and kicking but NDS do have something familiar like the Blood of the Bahamut. * Final Fantasy: Dissidia and other Fighting Games (Have you tried the Bleach fighting series and Jump Ultimate Superstars cause I recommend me as well as they are very decent fighting games themselves. * Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (NDS do have it's exclusive KH too you know and PSP can't play it either so it's a draw) * DJ Max Portable 2 :- Elite Beat Agent and Kouendan is not a bad game either with some good sense of humor in it. DJ do have some cool songs. * Pangya Fantasy Golf (I like this game too and i think unless Mario Golf DS is in the PSP win this segment.) Please don't flame me for Mario. Lolx As for your Phantasy Stars :- There is a MMO version for NDS is coming out soon and with torrents of RPG in the NDS so I think it overwhelm PSP easily in this segment as the the other 2 Phantasy Star you mentioned were but a remade. Crisis Core was good but not great and groundbreaking in the gameplay though the graphix were killer. I must say the PSP start to have decent titles which makes me happy too though it's a bit late but as the saying goes "better late than never". The only problem with PSP is that all games are too focused on the graphics rather than on the gameplay. Keep it up PSP.
You couldn't be anymore wrong regarding this comparison. DJ Max Portable is a music game such that each key press produces note sounds to the music. Which can make the music sound good or bad depending on how well the player is doing. Elite Beat Agents is strictly a rhythm game in which the player has to time his taps to each target just to maximize the score. Each tap does not produce any note sounds at all. The only thing the player gets as feedback from the game is whether the agents are performing good or bad, which depends on how well the player's timing is. By the way, thanks for mentioning those other games. I'll go ahead and start downloading them right now. EDIT: Regarding Blood of Bahamut. This game is not even remotely close compared to Monster Hunter in terms of gameplay and style. I've just tried with high-expectations going into it only to be disappointed.
I don't think the touchscreen makes the DS necessarily any better. In fact, neither, the PSP and the DS are better than the other as they are both portable game consoles that each serve a different purpose. By the way, since you brought the touchscreen up as a reason of why you believe DS is the better handheld, I want you to try playing Geometry Wars Galaxies with the touchpad for shooting. Tell me how well that works for you.
i think they serve the same purpose to entertain anywhere cause there handheld portable gaming console and kill time
I should have been more specific. What I meant by "different purposes", I was referring to gaming purposes. For example, DS excels well with touch games, and the PSP excels well with enormous content and graphics.
the DS is not better than the PSP because of the stylus and the mic, its better because of what the stylus and mic brings. It gives a whole new plethora of interactivity to the user, which immerses into more into the game you're playing.
gba for the win it had a number of awsome games on it and it didnt try to hard to be a good handheld like the psp and ds.
