I prefer the PSP because I can do 2 things that I couldn't do on the DS. 1 of which allows me access to pretty much every PS1 game that can be run on the PSP, and the other is the sheer amount of top quality RPG's ported over and original ones that are created or being created for the system. That and with the PSPgo coming up, a lot more developers are starting to support it. Also the homebrew on the PSP has a lot more useful applications for me, like a MAME emulator which can let me play Street Fighter III. But the DS is still an amazing system with lots of top-quality games, but at launch it was surrounded by piles and piles of cash-ins (just like the Wii had been and still is in a way) of crap games.

the more i read this page, the more i'm convinced that the DS is miles better than the PSP.

    you know why?

because almost every PSP fan pick the PSP because they can play PS1 games. PS1 games, not PSP games.

i have a PS1, so i wont even bother getting a PSP. not to mention we're comparing PSP games to DS games.

Well in my opinion, both have its strong points

DS : Awesome games, though a whole lot of RPGs are being knocked down by Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The Graphics ARE OK. I mean, The graphics are not like you cant see shit, as long as the graphics are decent, why should you care? Take a DS game, Soma Bringer for example, great action RPG, and compare it to a game like.. Transformers on the psp, the gameplay is just terrible, though the graphics are nice. And who doesnt like rythme games on the DS? (referring to EBA XD)

The music in the game isnt bad, but could be better, nothing more to add to it. The battery life is just excellent. on the lowest setting, it lasted me 7-8 hours. (Yes, im stupid enough to play that long just to test) Thats one good feature and charging only takes 1 and a half hours to fully charge, well for me anyway..

PSP : Firstly, the PSP 100 , AKA Phaty, is a bulgy yet cool looking system. The PSP 2000, Slim, is a HUGE enhancement to the 1000, Sony got the hulk to sit on it, they got einstein to further the system. PSP 3000, well, there isnt MUCH difference other then a microphone at the bottom, next to the volume buttons. The Graphics are excellent. Its almost as if the ps2 gave birth to the psp. But the gameplay? Sad.. just sad.. There are only a few games i recall that were fun.
Patapon, FFCC, Prinny, Patapon 2.. and Burnout legends. ... Maybe tekken, since i own in that.
The games are Lengthy for a portable system.. and since you dont sit in your local macdonalds playing for 3 hours straight (You dont, do u?!), Your probably going to get distracted a lot if your in public areas. The music is GREAT. Prinny, for example, has some of the best music ive ever heard. seriously.

So if i were to rate the DS and the PSP

    ==DS==

Gameplay : 19/20 A lot of games are fun, but some get repetitive after awhile. The touch
screen is a new and inovative way to portable gaming :)

Graphics : 7/10 Hey, its Nintendo, you cant really blame them.. Gameplay is the most
    important

Music : 7/10 The music on some games are good, but for me, i play it without sound since
i play it at night and dont want to disturb my bro who has school.

    ==PSP==

Gameplay : 14/20 Seriously? the PSP is just Wifi, movie, music, and some nice games. thats all

Graphics : 9/10 For graphics, psp takes the cake. on Final Fantasy Crisis Core, it looks
almost like a premature mini ps3. Wow. that sounded disgusting..

Music : 6/10 Ok music, except for Prinny, nuff said.

    So the final ratings are

    DS : 31/40

    PSP : 29/40

    K thanks and Bye

I find it funny that he mentioned Prinny, but didn't say a thing about Disgaea.
Also, no mention of FF Dissidia, Monster Hunter, God of War, Test Drive Unlimited, PSO, Tales of the World. There's a lot more to it than just Patapon.

There's a lot of great games for the DS, but most of them are cursed with the touchscreen a.k.a. gimmicky controls, or shallow gameplay. I'd rather have a beefy GBA or a beefy gamecube for that matter.

At least it actually has a useful function being touchscreen based.
I can't stand playing FPS with anything but a keyboard and mouse. There's just nothing better.

There is nothing better, but console games and portable games are smart if they include like lock-on aiming to fix the problem of dual-analog or touchscreen. And don't all DS FPS games take advantage of using the touchscreen as a mouse replacement kinda thing?

    I don't see why they wouldn't...

So far I am also left handed but do not find any prob playing FPS on the NDS and find its quite comfortable. Of course it can't compare to a Mouse and Keyboard but it's not that bad. Metroid, Moon, Core and a few FPS for NDS and mostly solid.

I still find the touch screen works quite well with certain games such as Suikoden, TWEWY and a few others as long as they don't force u to use only touch screen.

    EXACTLY!
    This is my main complaint.
A classic RPG should never rely on the touchscreen to play the game. For classic RPGs, the DS is essentially a beefed GBA, which is what I've wanted since day 1.

swt.. but why here in the philippines, they really liked the psp but they're just using it as a music player rather than playing haha, and my classmates are telling me that DS is for kids, the games sucks but I really don't believe in that, one day I showed them the most craziest game in the DS, the "Doki Doki Majo Shinpan" which is quite a hentai game, now they're saying whoa its better with playing those in the DS its the INTERACTIVITY!!

You showed your classmates a Hentai game to convince them that the DS is better? Wow... Yeah, at least it shows them what the DS can do instead of 3 GAZILLION remakes of the same 20 touch-screen miningames each one being worse than the last unless they're made by the big N.

One adult game and it proves to them that the DS isn't a kid's toy. One. One game that completely changes their view on the DS. lol
