Actually, It has been proved that Sephiroth on proud mode is not harder than Sephiroth on easy/normal mode.

If you plan on trying him again, I advise you to take a look on his attacks and try to find your own strategy for each one. Then put them together. Then try and beat him. Rinse and repeat. Remember, dying is not that bad
