Why is it that Kamen Riders have insect-like helmets?

 

because they are base on insect, mostly beetles

Kamen Rider Black was the first ever Kamen Rider aired here in my country, it was cut short though. The transition to Black RX was never aired here, lame :'(

The one below is X-1 Mask

This was the second Ranger team that was aired here after Bioman & what's interesting here is that this was the first Ranger Team that introduced a sixth team member, albeit he only appeared once. X-1 Mask was a member of the Prototype team that preceeded the current Maskman team, as told in the story. He appeared in one episode & lost his remaining power when he had to sacrifice himself to save the members of the current team from a very strong enemy, he didn't die but he lost his powers.
