Be more specific on what you want and what you're offering. Speed-EVed yes, 252 Speed EVs, but what about the other 258 EVs? What moveset? Or would you rather them be blank or default? Holding what? Something useful or Nevermeltice? Power-EVed Palkia? In what one? Attack or SpA? Any mention of IVs or should I just make them all 0? At least you'll have HP Fighting... :D

i could use a battle tommorow around 7pm but i only got the wii version... my ds wi-fi is ****

    my rules
    lvl 50 all
    doubles

here's the list of stander rules BTW

    Evasion Clause
Probably the most important rule in competitive play. This rule states that no player is allowed to use the moves Double Team and Minimize. Any other mean of raising evasion is legal, like Brightpowder, the Sand Veil Ability, or Acupressure. Using Double Team or Minimize due to Metronome is not a violation, but Assist is

    OHKO Clause
Almost as important as Evasion Clause, under this rule no player is allowed to use a OHKO (One Hit Knockout) move: Guillotine, Horn Drill, Fissure or Sheer Cold. Again, using these moves through Metronome doesn't break the rules, but Assist does

    Sleep Clause
Yet another very important rule, no player is allowed to put a Pokémon to sleep if a Pokémon in the opposing team is already sleeping. Pokémon sleeping due to Rest don't count. Since this rule can lead to various discussions, I'll try to list them all here
-A Pokémon falls asleep due to the Ability Effect Spore while another Pokémon on the same team is already sleeping: This doesn't break the rule, as the player with an Effect Spore Pokémon had no effect on the second sleep; however, if a player puts a Pokémon to sleep AFTER Effect Spore took affect, then he/she has broken the rule
-A Pokémon puts two Pokémon to sleep due to an opponent's Encore/Choice Item: If the sleeper was allowed to switch out, then the sleeper's player has broken the rule; if the sleeper was trapped by any means, the trapper's player has broken the rule
-In a double battle, two Pokémon are put to sleep by the move Dark Void: If no other Pokémon had previously been put to sleep, then the rule isn't broken

    Species Clause
Very simple, no player can have on the same team two Pokémon of the same species (Pokédex number)

    Soul Dew Clause
Since Latias is allowed in OU only without the Item Soul Dew, a new rule has been made: No Pokémon can hold Soul Dew. If Latias will be banned from OU even without Soul Dew, feel free to ignore this rule

    TIERS
    Uber Tier
The Pokémon here are banned from standard play because of their stats/Ability/movepool. This tier is not supposed to be balanced

The Following Pokemon are Banned from Standard OU Battles
THIS LIST IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
    - Arceus
    - Darkrai
    - Deoxys (all forms)
    - Dialga
    - Garchomp
    - Giratina
    - Giratina-O
    - Groudon
    - Ho-oh
    - Kyogre
    - Latios (both with and without soul dew)
    - Lugia
    - Manaphy
    - Mew
    - Mewtwo
    - Palkia
    - Rayquaza
    - Shaymin-S
    - Wobbuffet
    - Wynaut

and some rules apply (and these rules i play also)

NON STANDARD RULES THAT ARE SOMETIMES USED
The following rules aren't included as standard. However, they are quite popular among many users and make for a different style of play. If they are stated alongside the standard rules, remember to abide by them.

    Item Clause
By far the most common non-standard rule, item clause states that each Pokemon on the team must be holding a different item from one another. So no double leftovers or focus sash. Items that do the same thing but aren't the same, such as leftovers and black sludge, are allowed.

    No "Hax" Items
    The following items are banned:
    - Brightpowder
    - Quick Claw
    - Focus Band
    - King's Rock

    Self-KO Clause
This mostly only applies to tournaments. It's used to break ties. If both players are down to their last Pokemon and one uses a move that kills itself, such as Explosion, Self-Destruct, Destiny Bond, or Memento, the trainer who used that move is considered the loser in the match.

    Freeze Clause
Only used in a controlled environment such as Pokemon Battle Revolution or Shoddy Battle. Only one Pokemon may be frozen at the same time as another. Once one unfreezes, that Pokemon or another may be frozen.

Thank you. Someone who has explicitly gotten every rule down.
All of this information can be looked up, especially the tier info. It's not that hard to look up the Tier section on smogon.com

Also, I would like to add to the hax section, using scope lens for added crit chance or any similar item is also considered hax. I have a very good example of that in my youtube videos. The game is based on skill, not entirely luck.

Most of the other clauses are the old school Pokemon Stadium 2 clauses.
Also, if you trap a scarfed Breloom, you are an idiot.

If you are new to the Wifi battling scene, please go on smogon, dedicate a few hours to reading their starter guides and whatnot. Learn the basics, utilize a few key tactics, and please be able to distinguish the difference between an Uber, an OU, UU, NU, NFE, BL, etc. pokemon. Do not call shenanigans on my Jirachi, or my Suicune, or my Azelf etc. You don't have to know where each and every pokemon are in the tiers, but please, don't whistleblow until you've got some concrete evidence. That just shows noob (n00b, nub, nab) characteristics that no one likes.

And lastly, not related to GFL's post.
Seriously, how hard is it to look up my friend code? I have it IN MY SIGNATURE, with a link that directs you to the exact post where my friend code is. I'm not going to post every dumb FC in my sig only to clog up signature space and force people to see that every single time I post. I'm not trying single out anyone here, because it's not singled out to just one person. Also, if you fail to give me your FC, and it is not in your sig, or a link in your sig that directs me to your FC, then obviously we cannot do battle. I'm not going to fish through 15 pages of posts of Cloudboii, forte, and myself going back and forth in useless off-topic banter. Also, I'm not going to repeatedly ask people for their FCs. These should all be posted somewhere on the forum and readily accessible. They're not personally identifiable information. It's okay to post them.

    Cool...fully understood the above!

Apart from 'Hax' items...don't understand why they're not allowed...?

Some people don't like items based on chance - a single flinch from King's Rock can change a game. Most people don't use that rule though, as the chances are low and hardly anybody uses those items (except for Brightpowder).

GhostFaceLoser: Thank you for that post - I can see it will be very helpful for people who don't know some of the Tiers and clauses.

    Gosh.
    Complex :D
    Deoxys-S (or whatever it's called)
    Speed/HP/Attack
Whatever moveset you think is good ;D
Holding something good... something useful ;D
    Palkia *oh noes*
High S.Attack, Good HP, OK speed.
    A little bit of a mystery, ;)
    But it's still good :)

This is what I used to do on marriland for D/P. People used to think it was unfair for me to generate imperfect (I never make perfect IVs) teams for other people, but even with the right arsenal, I found that most of them didn't know how to use them properly.

I just feel guilty trading something that I can just hit the Load button for, and make as many copies as I want, especially when it's an event or a one of a kind pokemon, so I usually just log off, save a copy, log back on and trade it back to them. Basically their payment is a copy of what they traded so that I can analyze it. For example, Palkia and Dialga are only captured in one spot, so really, they should only have one valid hex combination.
So you give up one pokemon, get the one that you were asking for, get your original one back and a "cloned" one that's had further editing done to it.

    Change topic:
I'm planning on expanding into the UU and NU realms and Little Cup if anyone else wants to follow suit. It would be kind for a Pokemon expert to introduce the newbs to the lower tiers of competitive play. Also, is BL legal in UU or is that restricted to OU only? God forbid someone calls shenanigans on me using a BL pokemon in UU play. A few of you practically play UU with the team selection in OU so I figured we should do a UU setting.

Follow suit? I've been playing Little Cup for five months (incredibly tough to find an opponent though), and UU for almost a year. Little Cup is godly. It's just as intense as OU sometimes, but overall it feels more like UU - which is good, because sometimes I like my competitive battling not to be SRS BSNS. I'll find some guidelines for UU, NU and Little Cup later on tonight.

BL is disallowed in standard UU. The main purpose of the tier was to remove Pokemon with a threat level comparable to that of most OU Pokemon from the UU tier, but in general these Pokemon are too weak to use in regular OU. You can specify a BL-tier match, in which anything from the NU, UU and BL tiers can be used. Scizor was BL before the addition of Bullet Punch made it an OU staple.

EDIT: And if anyone is at all interested in battling me sometime, a link to my details and such is in my sig. You'll need IRC to hit me up for a battle; I don't tend to read PMs or posts straight away.

All this UU, OU, BL stuff sounds like being apart of some kind of cult...! lol

but i do understand them all...except for the Cups...what are they?

You and maybe one other person really have the experience where everyone else here is new to competitive play. I've only been playing for a month now. As you guys can tell, I don't read PMs or posts straight away either because the email notifications stopped working. I've missed a lot of messages since it only tells me if I refresh the page or go to another one.

I've been trying to find articles of what to expect within each tier, top threats, best walls and tanks, common tactics etc. I found that UU has a lot of inferior pokemon that match the exact same setup as their OU counterpart. I want to make the switch to UU for awhile since anything I pick in OU is weak to Earthquake. They have way too many Steel types this time around. Empoleon? Is that really necessary to tag on Steel for him? Heatran's Steel type is a nuisance.

    thekashmiriking Well-Known Member

dude...everstones dont let the pokemon evolve...take it off him and lvl gastly up and he should evolve!

Haunters evolve into gengar when they are traded...so find someone to trade with and it'll evolve!

  19. Suiseiseki

    Suiseiseki Well-Known Member

Just so you know, Earthquake is almost as common in UU as OU.

A good rule of thumb regarding what to expect in UU is anything with a stat that's base 100 or higher, and a lot of Choiced Pokemon with stats around base 90. There's a lot more variety in UU teams, so it's almost impossible to keep track of every threat in UU. Claydol and Chansey are things you should be looking out for, though.

    I gave you a Gengar with crazy Sp.Atk & Speed, Substitute/Explosion/Focus Punch/Shadow Ball, isn't that enough!?

And keep discussion off this thread. I'll start reporting if I have to.
