That's one of the points, the other one is to use after you have beaten the main story and want to start again, but now with cheats and all. I do think it ruins the gameplay and basics of Pokemon, so not for me, thank you.

i personally only collect the pokesav programs
they do ruin gameplay, but it's always fun to cheat yourself some trap items for the underground base to piss off other people. ever get hit by a 20-trap hurl chain? yea it's long, annoying, and sends you to the other side of the map
