I tried patching the game using that patch and following the instructions, but I am still getting a black screen on the NO$GBA. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

i don't know what that patch fixed...but it still slow, still glitchy, and on no$gba(not slow, not glitchy) it freezes after naming....must have fix the R4 peoples crashes

Don't count on it-but i think r4 would work..prehaps...

As for wifi-some games with security patches may still have issues getting online-remember platinum?

Those who want to know what the patch does:
It fixes a problem where the game freezes every now and then while playing on a flash cart.
More specifically, this freeze occurs when moving from one route to another, one area into a building, or even from the Save Screen to over-world and such.

It used to freeze after entering new areas or screens and such~
