Personally, if the game was revamped from red/blue/yellow and up using a Jump Ultimate Stars combat system, I would forgive Pokemon for having pokemon with stripes and spiked (YOU, LUCARIO!)

the thing is, say they did make a manual dodging system, how would they stop people from over-using it?
I mean it'd just be "oh shit a patch of grass AHHH OH NOES ITS A POKEMON AGHH ITS A LEVEL 4 METAPOD AGHHHHHHHHHHH SHIT HARDEN!????? DODGE DODGE DODGE phew!" for the entire game.

and yea that's the main problem. there needs to be a balance, or maybe like "whoever hits (insert button/buttons/button combo here) first gets the turn in their favour

 

wowie i'm rather impressed by that. it'd be much more fun if you can get ANY pokemon to follow you like that ;D although the HUGE legendaries, and especially Wailord, would be a problem

 

i know it rocks i go on gbatemp like everyday for news of games and homebrews lol

 

Interesting idea, but wouldn't work out in the long run (in terms of cheats and skill involved).

That would be a pain, but also, I wanted to clear out the fact that the battle line you wrote isn't possible without Sunny Day. Torterra would need to charge up Solar Beam.

The pre-release pics look awesome, I especially like the fact they made the starter follow you ..
I can see some weird and funny cheats for it..

 

For the dodge system, just have a "Protect" style one. But have it as dodge. So it uses up your turn, and if used too many times in a row, it'll fail.

 

Wow the screens look awesome and the video looks interesting.. cant wait till i get my hands on this... 2010, HERE I COME!!
