Instead of a the usual "Collect all eight friggin' badges" to "upgrade" your training ability, why don't they have a skill-level-system-like thing? For example, perks for using a certain type of pet ("Control Lv. 30 water-types," or "catch fire-types more easily") if your skill level for that particular affinity is high enough. No two trainers can EVER be alike, right?

  2. that would be a great idea....pokemon customization...why dont they do that?

Pokemon customization? How would that even work? I'm having a DeeDeeDee moment right now.

what do you mean pokemon customization? ... We already get to choose which ones we want to catch, what moves we want them to learn, what level we what them to train to (we kind of have control over that at least) and if we want them to evolve.

what other customizations could we have?

I remember something about "your pokemon become stronger" when you get the boulderbadge but really, nothing changed.
I'd like to see something like if you defeat a water gym let's say, your water pokemon and water moves (not compounded, meaning that a water pokemon using a water move won't do even more damage, just regular STAB) do more damage because you have the respective badge, but these amplifications would be disabled for wifi. So let's say you have that badge and it increases water moves' base power by 10%. You also have Mysticwater equipped so it increases the base power by another 10%. You use Hydro Pump and instead of it being 120 base power, you now have 120 x 1.20 which is 144 base power, better than a Facade with status infliction. If a water pokemon uses Hydro Pump, you would have 120 x 1.70 or 204 base power.

I'd like to get something more than a TM, an HM permit, and all pokemon obey up to x level.

that does sound like a really good idea, but would it be easy to understand and acceptable for the younger audience...maybe

    it's a great idea though

  7. ummm maybe more accessories...choose attributes once you beat gym leader...have the option of what type of trainer you want to be....i duno im not the game maker here lol

Pokemon has always been a working formula and whoever thought of the first series, blue and red, is a pure genius. Then after those games, it continued by using the same formula a genius created. I say, what's wrong with that? If it's not broken, why fix it? In stead of fixing it, add new stuff to it and give people some variety so that even old gamers can enjoy the game. If you do not like this formula, pokemon has other games for you to enjoy such as the Ranger and Mystery Dungeon series.

Besides that, in my honest opinion the pokemon did become less creative with its pokemon and all that. But I enjoy it still, and especially the WiFi addition is making it 'that' more competitive. Which it has always been.

I like the idea of having the abillity to level yourself as a trainer, same as you can level your pokemon. But I think they should stick to gymbadges and a pokemon league. And if you want more content, more end-game material or a different story. They should make the second region different. If they would give you the opportunity to start a gym there, for example. That, included with a vivid and interesting new story would definitely be worth the time. By combining things.

As far as it really goes, I doubt that will happen in any of the new Pokemon releases. However, they are adding new things and are trying to add much more content to a genius concept. Such as 'digging up fossils' in Pearl/Diamond/Platinum. They also made the game 3D and put in even more things. So its not just 'pokemon being added'.

As far as I could see for the new Pokemon release, called HeartGold/SoulSilver, I noticed some very interesting things. One, they added more content. Such as mini games and a pokewalker. They made the interface more user friendly and able to be used by touchscreen. They know that since the game already changed into 3D, they have to pull out different things out of the hat this time. You can for example place a pokemon out of the pokeball that will follow you around. They implanted stuff like radio/phones BACK into the game and... the thing I liked the most. In a 3 seconds clip, in between a video of Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, I saw a bridge move (turn). Meaning that dungeons etc. are going to have an upgrade, like people asked for in this topic somewhere.

So in my opinion, Pokemon is still steadily growing and becoming gradually better. Its just that to us, it seems overdone because we know the concept already. But if you think about it, it is still a mastermind amongst RPGs, growing and definitely fun.

Come to think of it, if Pokemon really was going more for the multiplayer aspect, why not do appearance customization? I mean, I really preferred Brandon/Yuuki's white hair and headband in the Hoenn league. Caps are really getting stale.

they should let you design your characters, that'd be cool

it'd also be sweet if they made it so once we beat the elite 4 we could become a gym leader or something more than just a trainer

at least not have to beat the crap out of their "Champion" since we won that title 40 previous times. At least make the opposing person the challenger, and you the Champion.

Even better yet, you stay put as the Champion and other random trainers (approximately the level 61-65 range) come and challenge you, 4 or 5 trainers per run, perhaps previous gym leaders, rival, the old guy's assistant, any trainer that "doubled up" with you along the way, team rocket bosses, elite four trying to take the title, etc.

Wow, that would be cool, you would really have the title of "Champion"

i think they are getting bigger and bigger each year. I started watching pokemon when i was like 4 and they should make another one for WII which doesn't take turns you could dodge and use different moves etc

Pokemon's kept its standard for me but it is repetitive.
new pokemon are good only if
    a) they look good
    b) they get a completely new move set.
its going downhill for repetitive and replay but the features are going up so i'm confused on what to say.

i dont know how the wifi works in the games, i haven't really tried it yet. But i think they should have it so the person who has the most wins online is considered the champion and they could hold tournaments like every month so other people can try to defeat the current champion and gain the title. Kind of like an online elite 4

damn i really want the wifi battle not exclusive for friend codes.. Im too lazy to find codes just to battle!! but the wifi plaza LOL its fun!

I think Pokemon grows and fails, it just can't stay on the opposite sides for long.
And the heart gold/soul silver will prove that Pokemon is really a legend!

pokemon wifi is limited to friends codes? that sucks

hopefully heart gold/soul silver will change that...

You can WiFi battle others at the Battle Tower, but you're basically going up against an AI. If that isn't lame enough, you'll find a lot of people who hack their games so it's hardly ever a fair fight.

Big time. WiFi doesn't have the cheat detecting that Bungie's Halo 3 has, giving another -1 for growth.
