That reminds me of myself. :p I still can identify Red's pokemons just by the growl they do when they come into battle.

What I do, as well. I got through Diamond, but it was more out of curiosity (I wanted to know how Pokemon was going) than anything else.

I used to play a game with my brothers guessing the pokemon from the sounds, they were both suprised and sickened by how accurate I was.

pokemon is failing. after crystal it was just going down. does pokemon even have a stroy? all you did was beat a couple of gyms, defeat team rocket and you beat the game. yeah people would talk to you but they usaully only did iy once. i say theres no story in pokemon other than what the prof says at the start of the game

How is Pokemon failing??? Pokemon Diamond/Pearl sold more than Ruby/Sapphire and FireRed/LeafGreen respectively.

Hasn't anyone noticed that the highest downloaded game from here is Pokemon Platinum?

The Pokemon games have never been known for their stories, and I'm sure they won't plan to anytime soon. Pokemon is based on raising monsters full stop. We should be lucky the game even has a somewhat story.

And VIII, what was the last Pokemon game who've played? Team Rocket hasn't been in an original Pokemon game since Gold/Silver, excluding FireRed/Leafgreen as they are remakes.

All I'm saying is the Pokemon games are not failing, they are growing.....and also making new fans for the series.

i was just using team rocket as an example since there probly the most known bad guys in pokemon.

i never enjoyed the newer games as much as i did with the older ones.
if the remake of gold and silver goes well and as good as the originals then i might play it

I stopped after diamond/pearl just because, it would be too time consuming to play platinum for me and there are too many other games to play

I can remember my first experience of playing Pokemon many years ago, it felt fresh, different and absorbing. A month or so ago I decided to give Platinum a go, I had not played a Pokemon game since Leaf Green and I had not really paid much attention to Pokemon since then. My experience with Platinum was very dissapointing, I felt like I had played this game before all those years ago. Sure the Pokemon had changed and the graphics where better(although still poor) but it was still the same gaming experience. Without some real innovation I think the days of Pokemon are numbered.

Perhaps Pokemon, could be turned into a more FFIV-ish, kind of game. Y'know, make Squeenix handle things and see if it works for the better.

I agree the pokemon games are failing after emerald cause i remember when i was a kid i used to play yellow and that got me hooked and it was pretty much the same thing with sonic as well.the developers are riding out the legend wave that the games had :'( they need to make some new mascots for the gaming industry especially mario he is the oldest

    Failing after Emerald.

For example ,Platinium. Its just an emergency game becouse of the dropping sales of the NDS. Heart Gold is a remake.

I dun wanna count Link! or Ranger.

So ,pokemon is not the same.

i think it was failing after crystal. most of the newer pokemon were the same as the older ones just a different look

Well, what Nintendo could do is stop making combat old-school-turn-based. They could make it something like FF Tactics or Real-time combat, y'know? Otherwise, the Pokemon Franchise is just gonna go stale. I dunno if it's pride that's getting in the way of better development (AKA fear that they may be copying off of a different, more popular game), but next to Charlie Brown, Pokemon is one child memory I dun wanna go old!

i say failing. the downloads may be high, but its not orignal. so what if theres about 500 more to get. its not original. the concept is the same in all games. its the same goal all the time. no matter what pokemon game gets released, ill only be happy with the original games. humr is right too. its going stale. its lost its big stiffy a long time ago and people are getting old of the same thing. people want new things, not just improved graphics and a shitload more things to get. pokemon needs a completly new look. look at the EXE megaman. it went from being fuckin A all the way to shitty by going starforce.

either pokemon gets changed or itll just be the same old crap.

As long as Nintendo doesn't overly modify the Pokemon formulas, Pokemon will never fail. Take the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Explorers of the Sky game. If you watch the trailers and gameplay videos, it looks exactly like Red and Blue Rescue Team. Those Mystery Dungeon games are so addicting, I don't know if I'll ever stop playing them. I haven't even needed to pick up one of the new Mystery Dungeon games yet, that's how awesome just Red and Blue Rescue Team are. If it's not broken, don't fix it. If it's perfect, it can't get any better, and any changes will just worsen it. Same goes with the GameFreak games. As long as Nintendo sticks to the original formula, Pokemon will continue to rake in the money, and our pleasure.

Bored of playing pokemon. Too repetitive. The poke'mons are uncreative and it looks like a mere child's game.

Started selling all my trading cards too.
