PBR has a cheat detector but it isn't as detailed as you would like it to be. It checks for illegal moves, abilities, and anything over 510 EVs, but it doesn't check PID/IV relationships, or the hex values. Meaning that someone can create something that is legit in every way and it won't be flagged, and the only way that you can tell the difference is by me saying that this one is hacked.

What do the hex values do? I never heard of that.

It's just a little way for the game to prove that you actually caught or bred the pokemon, instead of just entering in bullcrap with pokesav.

When you catch a pokemon, hex values are recorded, as well as a PID that corresponds to a specific set of IVs, therefore, if you caught a pokemon, and changed its IVs (or nature, or class), it wouldn't correspond to the PID and would be flagged as hacked. Same exact thing for hex. For platinum, if you don't have D0, 07, 04 (for Solaceon Town) in boxes 44h-46h, on a bred pokemon, then it is hacked. 04 can changed to whatever value your location is when you hatched it.

However, the game doesn't really flag them all that well. I've only gotten one bad egg on PBR and that one isn't even mine. lol. Being a pretty damn good hacker with this stuff, it bugged me to find out that I have a bad egg, but when I saw that it belonged to KELLY, I was like wow...seriously? Back when I played legit, I traded for a Torterra and it's obviously hacked.

The only really hacked pokemon (one that would actually be flagged using a program) I have is Celebi and that's because there's only one US version of it in existence and that's the 10 ANIV one, which is rare as hell. My Celebi is on PBR and it isn't flagged.

Like I said, PBR only checks to see if you have legal moves, no more than 510 EVs, and legal abilities. It doesn't care if you have perfect 31 IVs, shiny, and a wrong PID.

Sadly, the really good legit checkers require the use of pokesav (to save your pokemon as .pkm files), so you have to be a hacker to check. It would be nice for the developers to use that checker in any of their future games so that we don't run into sloppy hackers, which is the majority of hackers out there.

Lmao. Are you against "Legit" hackers? Meaning that they make pokemon, but follow the rules and limits of that pokemon?

I'm actually a legit hacker. So I follow all of the rules and limitations. I'm against the idiots that create shiny ho-ohs with wonderguard. I can't stand all shiny teams because that's obviously hacked. I don't like it when they have absolutely perfect 31 IV teams either. I mean, yeah mine are pretty high, but they're never perfect 31s. I abuse the crap out of Hidden Power so if you see me use it, then obviously it's not perfect 31s. Most of the time, they're 27s since that's the next odd number that counts for Hidden Power typing.

I use pokesav for three things, Nature/Ability, Hidden Power typing and power, and movesets.

Yeah I have pokesav as well and I try to stay as legit as possible. It's not that bad. I don't get much of an advantage. I still lose. Maybe I'm facing other people that don't stay legit. =/ Bastards.

Legit hacker or not, it's lame. As long as you hack you are ruining it for a vast majority of 'legit' players. Call it legit all you want, but that's what you are doing.

People are putting in effort to play the game, putting in time and commitment to create a to them 'perfect all star team'. And then you pop up with your 'legit' hacking, creating whatever you wish as long as it does not exceed the boundaries of Pokemon. Which means you can make lvl 100 Pokemon because it's 'legit', you can give them maxed out IV's and such. In my opinion -no matter how you try to talk your way out of it- it's really lame to hack when playing games. Just shows your inability to win of people using your own time and strengths.

Do you know how much time it takes to properly do all those? You think we have got so much time? I don't think so.

people play the game for fun...people hack the game for fun

both kinds of people are getting what they want out of it...and lets be honest, its pokemon, who really cares if you win or lose

Sorry, but I don't have months of my time to waste hatching egg, after egg, after egg, after egg just to perfect one pokemon.

Oh, and none of my pokemon are level 100, but I'm gonna have to change that because of PBR. Did you not read anything that I said? Did you just see the words legit hacker, skip to the bottom and immediately reply with legit hackers are lame? Don't think you think it's a little retarded that it is impossible to catch every pokemon from one generation of games? I think it's stupid that you have to have all of the third gen, and fourth gen games as well as attend their 'events' to catch every single one. Oh, and it's still impossible because they have never released Arceus, ever, so you'll be stuck at 492.

If the odds of getting just 5 IVs at 31 weren't like winning a lottery, even with reserving a few IVs from its parents, then maybe we wouldn't have so many hackers around. Breeding should be fun, not a chore. The baby should inherit the traits of its parents, not create random IVs not inherited from either parent. If both parents have 6 IVs at 31, then the baby should automatically have the same thing. It should take 3 IVs at random from the father and 3 IVs at random (different from the father) from the mother, but no, we still get randomized IVs.

Thats why there is such a thing called Pokesav. Come on, it is just a game...zzz

I was talking about legit hackers in general; not about you as a specific individual. Because I find it -despite hacking- quite cool that you decided not to max out everything. I get what your getting at, and that you find the need to defend yourself. But it's not intended that way.

If I could hack I would probably do so; but not max things out and keep it all reasonable and fair. I mean, the reason I typed that is because when you go into the battle tower for example... all you are getting is unfair matches?
Sure the hackers do not have the time. But that doesn't mean every NON-HACKER has the time to endlessly hatch and hatch and train and train. We do not too. So those with a life end up not being able to enjoy a fair battle. And that's pretty much what I was getting at. So don't feel attacked or anything, I wasn't aiming at you or whatever you do when you hack. I did read. I was talking about those that do not, max everything out and then battle people in the battle tower.

I think you're getting the battle tower and wifi battles mixed up.
Battle tower is against the CPU and yes, those bastards are worse than hackers. God forbid they put up one double team and then you'll never hit them again, or they OHKO your entire team while it being 30% success rate... That was actually the first reason why I got into hacking. Then I learned all about IVs, EVs, Natures, Hidden Power, etc. If it weren't for hacking, I'd still be in the dark about competitive battling, and I'd still be using "starter" pokemon to take on the battle frontier.

My most recent tutorial on the forum shows how to hack effectively without looking noobish. No shiny dialgas, or wondertombs, or whatever used to plague the GTS during D/P.

Everyone that has a flashcart, (or even able to extract their save file and reinsert it into their game), is able to use Pokesav. That answers your if-then statement. You now have a choice. You can spend endless hours trying to breed something that is just as rare as finding a non-chained shiny in the wild at a much slower rate (because conjuring/hatching eggs takes longer than the encounter rate), or you can shortcut that with Pokesav. The IV thing never really bothered me. I don't mind going against someone with perfect IVs and then beating them at their own game. I actually assume that they have perfect setups, and the few times that they don't, it's a surprise, not a disappointment. It's the BS that they pull with putting more than 510 EVs, wrong abilities, or anything outlandish, like an all shiny legendary team that destroys the game.

But like I was saying before, they should implement a stronger cheat detector so it eliminates the noob hackers from the better ones.

Haha. How could I. I meant wifi battles yeah... I do know what the difference is. I guess I was thinking of the battle tower somewhere in my mind while trying to type 'wifi battles' or something. :p

    Where's that tutorial located at?

Yeah, sheer cold for example. Maxed out pp and 100% success rate. I mean, you just fail if you use bs shit like that.

I guess the hacking prevent system (detector fail lol) is actually part of it failing. But who knows, maybe it'll turn out better in the next games.

I just don't hack, plain and simple. Sometimes, the hard way is the fun way. Well, for me anyway.

i think the original poster should add like a chart to his original post...one side with ideas that support the growing part of pokemon and the other side has ideas that support the failing side...it'll kind of summon up this thread so far

That never ever happens. Then he'll see this message and try to keep it updated, but that will last about a week...

The little lounge area that they have in the upper floor is completely useless. Like we're going to find an abundant amount of people all waiting in that room at the same time, and then have a level 30 restriction. Utterly useless. Same goes for the underground. DS to DS communications is really only limited to your household. Make the levels unrestricted, and connect with people regionally, and have an option to quick-add them to your Pal Pad.
