I don't usually tend to agree with you much, but I couldn't agree with you more on this one.

Normally I'd be on susis's side when it comes to pokemon...

Guess I grew out of it...

Would all of us still be into this come the 90th generation...maybe...

All I know is, the game is perfect, but I need a refresher...

A spin off game with these mechanics (like ranger) could be worth an experiment, while still continuing the same concept that never get's old to the dedicated fans...

Halo won't change, house of the dead won't change, resident evil made only a slight change and got hammered...

    So, that's it for me.

This is not about "sides". This is about common sense over batshit stupidity.

I do, however, see the niche the Ranger and Mystery Dungeon games fill up, which is to explore the Pokemon universe using a different mechanic. I don't play them, but I appreciate the different take they have on Pokemon. That's all well and good for spinoffs, but why fix what ain't broke in the main series, especially to pander to imbeciles?

You want action? Go play whatever game mainstream videogame media is hyping this week, don't bring your shit into a perfectly good game. Especially since it is, holy shit, not an action game by nature.

You think it's perfect, but it needs a change? I think all you need to do is play a different game altogether.

I don't really understand what you're wanting here. You're asking for a spin-off game that's already been done.

Exactly right, so why change Pokemon?

You may need to read my above post in the topic, active combat hasn't been done by pokemon, I based my idea with the combat with custom robo.

I'm thinking of a new venture, make the current one, but make a totally new one and see how that goes.

I like weird and out their gaming, sometimes mainstream doesn't work with me for some reason and I get bored of done concepts.

I think that I've mentioned the changes that I'd like to see in Poke'mon game before on this forum; but I'll state them again anyhow.

I think that double battles should be standardised for every battle in single player and not just be limited to when fighting certain trainers (or when you catch the attention of two trainers at the same time). The reason that I think that this should be the case is because it would the be possible to have a team with move sets that complement each other, built around double battling strategies (doing this in single player at the moment is inconvenient for single battles as most strategies don't go both ways). Of course, a player could always change all of their Poke'mons' moves around all the time; but that would be too much of a pain in the arse for anyone whom isn't really dedicated, I think.

I think that the animation needs to be improved, at least when Poke'mon are first sent into battle (snapping back and forwards between two sprites whilst cheap effects like wobbling are used looks rubbish). The move animation also needs to be improved (I'd settle for the moves actually appearing on a location on-screen that actually relates to the sprite of the 'mon using it).

Designs for Poke'mon has gone down the drain in recent years in my opinion, I'd like less shoddy-looking Poke'mon. The Poke'mon that have been revealed for the new games (I'm talking about the mascots and those two black fox thingies) look O.K though. I think I may have seen designs for the new starters, but I'm not sure whether they're official or just mocks : / They looked terrible though.

And I know that this isn't going to happen; but if GAMEFREAK could wipe about 30% of the current amount of Poke'mon from existence, so that the number to remember and collect doesn't begin to approach the population of China, that would be just fantastic.

True, legendaries have turned to shit , along with their designs.
If they need to change anything, it's the story (christ, thats gotten old) and the visuals (be it small, the best improvement I've seen so far from B/W is that pokemon look more lifelike during battle and aren't just static sprites after their initial animation).

Fuck changing the gameplay/TB battle system, it's definitely core to what makes the game great. Save that real-time setup for the crappy spin-offs. Not saying real-time is bad, it just wouldn't be beneficial to the main series at all, it would just mess things up.

The only thing that needs to be fixed in the newer games is the sound. C'mon, a new handheld and they're still using the same shitty sounds from years ago?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the sounds tbh.

you can see sample clips here (with music)
http://www.pokemon-sp.jp/series/bw/#/area < that town's music is slightly annoying though

I agree with you on both of these points hYpNoS
I think they should make the fighting style similar to maybe Spectrobes, that was the only reason why I liked that game...
and the calling out the attacks thing would be awesome IMO.

I have been a fan of the pokemon series since it came out back in the mid 90's, I have played and beaten every game in each generation, and yes, it has not changed a bit (aside from the graphics and the pokemon themselves). It has been nearly 15 years since the first pokemon game came out, and it really is time for something new

Watch the anime and then come tell me if their cries are exactly the same then the ones that are in all games.

I couldn't care less about the anime really. So you'd want them yelling their names during battle? O.O

  13. johnx

    johnx Well-Known Member

    That would be annoying.
Especially if your outside or somewhere public

So, you want random sounds that barelly resembles their cries? Also, there's some sound effects that barelly represent what they are supposed to sound in real life.

I've been playing the Pokemon games for years and for some reason I still get totally engrossed with them even though there hasn't been much change. I like the way battles are played out, but it could probably do with some updating. I am sure the graphics during battle could be very much improved and it would be nice to see the moves in more depth. But if everyones idea was turned into a working game, then wouldn't it really increase the amount of time spent doing battles etc?

I clock up a long time during these games (and other RPGs) and the ones where the battles are drawn out to show you every minute detail really do start to bug after a few times. I wouldn't want the Pokemon games to start doing that but I am sure that some sort of compromise could be achieved.

i hate calling people names on the internet but obviously just because you cant play a game that takes more thinking than paper-scissor-rock and you're calling me an idiot? i probably played pokemon while you were crying to you mom wanting to watch elmo on sesame street.. who said anything about Halo? i dont even like that game... and if you didnt wanna read a rant about poke'mon why didnt you just read the topic? so dont go bitchin like a lil pussy to me because you decided to open the topic and read. alot of people here agree there needs to be more to the game, sorry if we like to have more in our games than what they did 10 years ago... i said more than just the battle system so you obviously agree about the lame story
