They didn't even bother to make a new engine.. they just slapped the old 4th generation engine and changed the camera angle like this hacker did to HGSS..

Back on topic, nothing new here to be honest, we could change the view to that angle in pokemon heartgold already. The only new thing is the battle screen.

 

W-eeelllll, maybe the 5th gen is the start of a new naming system? It IS just a name anyway =/
Heck, if it is really gonna be light and dark, the following games might be something like Fire, Water, Earth, Yaddayadda, elements My thoughts

 

To be honest, I'm really disappointed. I was hoping for better graphics, much more detailed scenery and better character designs. But noooo~ All they did was to change the view and call it a new game. From the videos posted above, those users kept saying "Wow shockingly amazing!" Hell yea. Shockingly disappointed.

 

I sincerely hope it's a new naming system. When they run out of colour names, they will have to resort to HEX colours. Heck, the firered remake #FF0000 might be good, but I think #00CC00 would be nice too.

Its only amazing because gamefreak did something slightly new, when we all thought that pokemon will end up almost the same with just slightly newer graphics but the same game all in all. So yes shocking. But you know game play is another thing which we dont have that much clue about. Nintendo said it was "new" so I'm hoping on that. And Also the game doesn't come out in Japan till the Fall of this year so thats a lot of time to add and alter.

 

There's not really much they CAN do to change the gameplay... unless they make it more interactive with the touch screen doing most of the movements...

 

There is lots of things they could incorporate, they could add an attack range (distance, height, width) to make an avoiding system so you would have to predict the opponents movements better, the now rather lame attacks like Growl could affect the movement.

They could make it dependent on Speed, Weight, Height, making it a more realistic system, obviously pokemon like Ponyta could jump higher than a snorlax, so he would be better off defending rather than jumping, this could give you a little edge in battle, and make you want to catch pokemon with the right POSTURE.

Of course, they won't do this, but there is a lot of other things they could do. They might even make you come home by 6PM because your mum worries about you, or they might have you save at pokecenters only, cause no one sleeps outside

Change can be a good thing, but it can also make the game seem awkward compared to the previous versions.

 

I know, I feel like this time they didn't try to impress, but maybe they'll make the battle system better, but one thing is for sure the DS can handle really cool 3D games such as Metroid prime hunters,Phantasy star Zero,Kingdom Hearts, but no they just used a different camera angle and decided to call it a day.. now they better try to be more creative with new pokemon or the battle system since they didn't really do anything new, and I swear if i see a rip-off of a pokemon such as beautifly is to butterfree I'm gonna throw a poketantrum, and by the look of the already similar Vulpix and lucario I can only hope...

Anyway, I was also hoping to see maybe a portable style collosseum or maybe if they would have waited a bit more for there next generation handheld, but i'll pick this game up anyway on day one, but it might be my last depending on how this game is.

nintendo would normally make a better version of say Ruby and Saphire so making a next generation straight away looks pretty weird

if theyre already making a next generation then...i dunno maybe there r only gonna be 2 games per gen not 3...

but we only get a new HH/SS clone with no real chance exept angle chance eh?
