Ampharos, Absol and Mawile Mega Evolution details confirmed​

Pokemon X & Y — 12 August, 2013​

The official site has confirmed the Mega Evolutions of Ampharos, Absol and Mawile and provided clearer pictures.

Mega Ampharos, Mega Absol and Mega Mawile​

When Ampharos Mega-Evolves, apparently the red orbs on its body emit a strong light.
Mega Absol increases its Attack and Speed.
Mega Mawile increases its Defense and Special Defense.

Based on currently-known information, Mega Evolution works in the same way as an in-battle form change. A few other additions mentioned in news are a new attack, Nuzzle (learnt by Dedenne), and a new Ability, Cheek Pouch (had by Dedenne and Bunnelby).

New nuggets of X&Y information from the Pokémon Game Show​

Pokemon X & Y — 17 August, 2013​

At the Pokémon Game Show this weekend in Japan, demos of X&Y were available for play. Several small bits of information have come out from that.

In the demo you battle your rival, then go to see Professor Sycamore who tells you about Mega Evolution and gives you a Mewtwo and you battle him. It's unclear if this is just a special battle for the demo or actual gameplay (it would be quite late in the game if so). There is a special Mega Evolution button on the fight screen; when pressed the Pokémon Mega-Evolves and can use a move on the same turn. Graphics have also been improved by having each move slot the same color as the type of move.

The Fairy type is confirmed to be not very effective against Fire types, and the Fire type is neutral against Fairy. In the overworld, running the default and the player must hold B to walk.

Some learnset moves confirmed:
Sylveon: Tail Whip, Fairy Wind, Quick Attack, Swift.
Froakie: Water Pulse, Round, Quick Attack, Lick.
Fennekin: Psybeam, Fire Spin, Tail Whip, Flame Charge.
Helioptile: Tail Whip, Thundershock, Quick Attack, Parabolic Charge.

This demo is being shown in English for the first time in Gamescom and now we have footage of the entire demo. While not much is shown that is new, it does showcase the mechanics of the game in English, ending with a special montage.

Pokemon X Pokemon Y​

Some minor more demo details have come. First, it appears Mega Mewtwo doesn't have an increase in Hit Points. Also, non-Kalos Pokémon such as Skitty and Exeggutor make an appearance in the overworld. Fairy-type moves are also not very effective on Fire-type Pokémon.

Dragon han no effect on Fairy and Fairy is super effective againts two of my most favorite types, Dragon n Fighting!! :'(

In my oppinion pokemon got shit @ black and white.
Annoying seasons, stupid time, too much unneeded crap, stupid pokemons.
But thats just me.

i agree, i think gen 5 was totally crap... Hate almost all the pokemon in that gen... I just hope this doesnt turn out like gen 5....

 

The only thing I disliked about GEN V was the fact that GameFreak milked the cash cow with Black 2 & White 2. Had they just followed the usual formula wherein they should have released a third tie in game (in this case Pokemon Gray perhaps?), then things wouldn't have been this awful.

 

Anyone hear the rumor that there might 650 Pokemon living in Kalos? I doubt it, but I can only dream. I won't purchase X or Y until I know the version exclusives.

Could you explain how releasing a direct sequel, an entirely new game, is milking a cash cow but releasing the same game with a facelift isn't and how the former is worse.

It also confirmed that you will need to obtain a bracelet called the Mega Ring that holds a mysterious stone called a Key Stone. The Trainer’s Key Stone resonates with the Mega Stone held by his or her Pokémon.

New feature Pokemon Bank and pokemon Transfer ​

Pokémon Bank is a piece of downloadable software that allows for you to store various Pokémon from your Pokémon X & Y games on the internet. It requires a yearly fee of 500¥ and has storage for up to 3,000 Pokémon. It also runs a trial for 30 days at any point until January 31st which is when it becomes a paid service.

Pokémon Bank simply allows you to store up to 3,000 Pokémon within 100 boxes on the Internet, away from the boxes you have in your game. With this, you also have the ability to transfer content between various Pokémon X & Y games. It also has protections that prevent cheated Pokémon from being able to be transferred to the Bank.

In addition to that, you have the ability to search through your boxes based on type, species and various other features.

Each download of Pokémon Bank comes with the special app called Poké Transporter which allows for the transfer of Pokémon from Generation V games to Generation VI It was also revealed that Pokémon Bank & Poké Transporter prevent hacked Pokémon from transferring and work with multiple copies of the games.

The Poké Transporter, known in Japan as Pokémon Mover, is a free bit of software that comes with the download of the cloud storage app, Pokémon Bank and allows for you to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Black, White, Black 2 & White 2 over to your Pokémon X & Y games. Poké Transporter only requires one 3DS system and is a simple programme to use, allowing you to transfer batches of Pokémon in one go by placing them into the Pokémon Bank box.
