No, keep current firmware and place all files in the thingy on sd card root, works fine for my r4 sdhc upgrade and ppl with r4i sdhc it works too.

Omg please!! I beated the game and the boss (of the evil ones) his highest pokemon was in lv. 54 ,, and after the credits and that all ,, you can go to new areas and the pokemons are in level 62 or higher , like WTF?!
