Would you spend U$150 on an accessory which you would ditch after playing for a few minutes?

kage56 ask how is this different?!

when it was project natal, it was visioned to be this wonderful piece of technology hardware for you xbox 360 where you can do all these things mentioned before it was known as kinect. imagine if nasa suddenly announced that they have build the first warp engine, it would stir the imagination of people and people would think about star trek and star wars. or imagine if a holodeck was made, people would imagine about the stuff done in star trek.

but when it became to be known as kinect, it failed because it showed the reality of the product, that it didn't deliver what it promised.

compare the e3 presentation of 2009 to 2010. in e3 2009, microsoft made a lot of fantasy promises. in e3 2010, this is the reality of kinect or project natal and it bites hard.

the media and microsoft will say that kinect will not be that good and the failure of the product will be due to that one little tech that was omitted [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinect]. but in reality it wasn't really about that little missing piece. it was that ......

btw, it doesn't matter on either kinect or move because third parties aren't concerned about it because they don't care about motion controls. if developers were concerned they would have made games for the wii. but developers didn't care for the wii and they wouldn't care for the move or for kinect. what the hardcore will get is the wii treatment that has been plagued since the launch of the wii, that is to say tack-on concept of the controller for the game.

also, check this out, http://www.destructoid.com/survey-says-e3-didn-t-do-much-for-ps-move-or-kinect-178668.phtml. why bother with motion controls when you don't have compelling games for it?! all the games on kinect and move are nintendo knock-offs.

    kinect price announced: http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/blog/article/14028/

copied in case you cant be bothered to click :)

Microsoft’s ‘Kinect’ peripheral for Xbox 360 promises to revolutionise gaming by removing the need for any kind of hand-held joypad. In short, the motion-sensing camera technology makes you the controller. Such zeitgeist-redefining kit comes at a price, though. That’s £129.99, as Microsoft has just confirmed...

Yes, you read that correctly – Kinect costs the same to buy as an entry-level Xbox 360. We’ll let you ponder the maths on that one while we detail the various options in store.

£129.99 is the price for the standalone sensor unit, although this does include the game ‘Kinect Adventures’ too. Meanwhile the best option for gamers who have yet to jump aboard the Xbox gravy train is a bundle pack comprising all the above and a shiny new Xbox 360 ‘slim’ with 4GB of onboard memory (a new model) – it’s £249.99 for that.

Kinect is scheduled to launch in November, with more than 15 games available from the outset, including such family-friendly titles as Kinect Sports, Dance Central and Kinectimals, which has players interacting with a collection of cuddlesome big cat cubs. Moreover, the future’s bright for the device, with all major software publishers pledging their support going forward.

That’s great to know, but Kinect still has fight on its hands if it’s to fend off the challenge posed by Sony’s ‘Move’ controller, which offers motion-sensing PlayStation 3 gaming at a fraction of the price – the starter pack costs just £49.99, and it’s launching in mid-September too.

Tough choices if you’re looking to enter the motion-sensing market, then. Kinect is absolutely cutting-edge technology but is expensive and launching later in the year, while Move is imminent, much cheaper but insists that players physically hold a controller. Then there’s the Wii, which is the cheapest of the lot, is readily available and still boasts plenty of brilliant games.

So which will you be buying this Christmas?

Why can't they hurry up and invent mind-controlled gaming already, now that would be great.
And until it's proven that the Kinect actually works as they say it does (and they release a few good games) I won't be getting it.

Both seem pretty fun in theory (Even with the lack of originality); but I really don't think they'll be that great in practice.

One last thing: JUAN MILLION TROOBS!

and the kinect is a more advanced eye toy

I have this feeling that more money will be spent repairing damaged TV's because of Move and Kinect...

Also.....is it just me or does Nintendo seem one step ahead, and what happened to their "Wii Vitality Sensor"?

  17. iluvgtavcs

    iluvgtavcs Guest

yeah. I guess Nintendo put more effort into their 3DS than their "Vitality Sensor".
What Nintendo actually needs to do is to promote their Classic controller for shooter games and racing games. Then the control problem would be solved.
And the graphics issue.... well, nintendo needs to sue the crap companies Data Design and others for creatting sh*tty games!
And they need to put out CD/DVD playback. And 1080i HD.

    real funny.
and to be honest i agree.
the move is a bit too late to compete. but then again, its graphics are better than the Wii.
And you look like a complete IDIOT when you play kinect joyride:
