Yes, the problem is you can't turn it on and run it, you have to do all the manual work. But hey, it saves you money.

Thats true, but if you don't know what your doing then you can get it built from some places, ie. possibly the place you get all your parts.

Luckily for me though, I have experience in the electronics area.
Basically you just need to know how to plug everything in, and take precautions around your parts, like wearing a static strap so you don't zap your parts

Never worn one and never zapped anything.

Keep your foot on a metal table leg or something. Or just touch the computer case every once in a while. I've never zapped anything, and I usually build my computer on top of a carpet! I have no room anywhere else. :p

Well, you don't need one. It's just better to have one if your inexperienced, don't know what your doing, or are just clumsy etc.

Somehow I got my head stuck to a computer part.
Not sure what part, but my head was staticked to it and it hurt like hell to separate it.

Why don't you built your own or pay a company to put your hand-picked parts. Both ways are WAY cheaper and then you don't pay for stuff you don't need neither.

If you decided to scrap vista and turn to xp 2gb ram is more than enough either the 667mhz or 800mhz since the price range doesn't differ by a lot.XP can only support 3gb ram so its recommended to get two 1gb so you can have the dual channel

you mean XP 32 bit can only support 4GB (technically 3.5GB). 64 bit XP can support 64GB, if you don't mind fighting with crap drivers and incompatible software.
