There's always a chance. If you upload something illegal and megaupload gets a subpoena for your contact info then you can bet that they'll hand it over. If you don't want to get in legal trouble then don't upload anything illegal.

That said, the chance is tiny, minuscule even. I don't think people generally bother with subpoenaing uploader info unless the uploaded content was some pre-release film/music or child pornography.

Well I think even if you are caught it would be hard for them to "penalize" you due to all the different infringement laws in different countries.

Then again this is pure speculation combined with big(ish) words so if I come across as a clueless spaz -- you know why.

none....were are all these people who are recieveing mail from their ips. from?
you usually get caught because you use allot of bandwith.....
your ips could send a spy (online server bot, or personnel) to monitor your pc in some cases...
yes you might say, "but i taught all my things are private"....
well no, a friend of my uncle worked at a big company (not naming names) and he was one of these people ....

A friend of my uncle worked at Nintendo, he was one of them Nintendo people.

Usually ISP's only send letters when they get threatened with actions from companies like the MPAA or RIAA

One thing I like about Megaupload is that I don't even need to register there to upload stuff. Other than the 45 second wait before downloading, it's the fastest file hosting site for me.

For me too, but I like Mediafire better. You don't need to register either, and no wait time.
