If you read the second part he said that you only get prosecuted for being fully nude.

Failure at my beautiful language aside, to say that clothing is less attractive and "beautiful" in art because it's not natural is a really silly thing to say. Really silly. Really really silly. I suppose art with buildings, art with lighting, art with all other man-made items and structures aren't as pretty as dirt because they're unnatural, right?

Not entirely true, anti-matter is unnatural.

  9. Loonylion

    not, antimatter is naturally occuring.

??? I didn't think antimatter could exist as it reacts with any matter, which is what our universe is made up of

space is made up of matter and antimatter annihilations.

Black holes make antimatter but what if the gravitational pull, pulls it into it self thus destroying the black hole at hand wouldn't that make matter ?

I'm actually impressed with how long y'all stayed on topic!

Then anti-matter snuck in with it's nakedness and it was downhill from there. :)

This is my opinion on nudity:

    1) We are not born with the knowledge or ideals of shame. We learn these ideals as we grow. Our thoughts on what is wrong and what is right is shaped by our family, friends, and societies. So the idea of nudity, for most, is taught to be an object of shame.

    2) We have laws against specific acts of nudity, as in flashing yourself to others or sitting on a park bench masturbating while little kids play on swing sets nearby. I feel these laws are in place so we are all made to follow the same social norms; because people don't share the same views and ideals about nudity. I was raised in a household that taught me not to be ashamed of my body or my sexual desires, but I respect the rights of people not to be exposed to my beliefs, specially that on nakedness. The laws are there for people who wouldn't respect other peoples rights to decide.

    3) The laws that have been made in response to women breastfeeding in public places, however, are asinine and turn a natural process (nurturing a child with the supplies one was born with) into something shameful. It's retarded and I disagree with how stick in the butt people have become.

    4) Rape isn't about lust or sexual desire,at least in the way having sex is, rape is about power and taking that power away from someone else. It's about anger. Yes, people get off to these thoughts but whether or not I'm wearing a skimpy red dress that shows the bottom of my butt and the tops of my breasts or am wearing three layers of clothes or am naked will have nothing to do with someone acting out their need for power. Does this make sense? I think saying rape will rise if people are naked is like people saying that girl who went out with her friends and wore things that made her feel pretty completely deserved to be raped.. She was asking for it yeah?

    5) Anti-matter is natural in that it happens and is not a man made process, it's completely controlled or uncontrolled by nature.

    Thank-You. :)

Maybe it's just cause you're a girl, but, rape is mostly a sexual thing, not about power (though physical dominance allows it in most cases). That's where domestic abuse comes into play. :p

And maybe it's just because you're a boy, but rape really isn't about the sexual pleasure, especially not serial rapists, it's about power and all the fun things that go with it. Domestic abuse is a whole other issue. :p

This discussion isn't about the benefits of clothing but whether we should be required to wear it in public. I believe we should in non-nudist public areas because I don't feel like seeing naked senior citizens walking around. Also, nudity could also go against people's religions or beliefs which form the basis for laws in the first place.

I'm male, and I'd have to say that ChibiGamer is right, rape is about power first and sex second. After all, what's stopping you hiring a prostitute?

Money, the ugliness of a prostitute. I would rape for sex over power. Although, I'd probably never rape anyone. Probably.

I thought this thread was about nudity, not rape. But while we're off topic here, I have a personal friend of mine that is a victim of rape. I have seen first hand what someone goes through. While I may not feel what she felt, I see how she is tormented. Rape is a crime that is based in violence and abuse. I feel remorse for someone that has had to experience such an act of malevolence.
