I would just like to mention for those who upload to that file site, try to keep the release numbers, compress the files, and only upload clean roms. I can't upload a few of the roms I have due to not having the clean rom on hand, as I'm not going to make somebody use a pre-patched rom when they don't need it. I don't even need them patched at this point, but they still work fine, and I'm too lazy to replace the file with a clean one.

Just an idea, do you think this will actually make nintendo more money?
people wont buy a DS now, i certainly wouldn't buy a new one and then have to pay top whack for games, i would just get a 2nd hand one if at all.
I dont see nintendos profits soaring, i can see people moving on to other things. Sure, they will sell games for now because the DS is popular but people will soon get fed up.
Its gonna hurt the 3DS most i reckon

This site just gives people less of a reason to buy games.

but will people buy the games?
and will people pay for a DS knowing they have to pay for games?

    In most cases, yes.
Unless they know about flashcarts before hand.

I didn't know about flash cards until just last year. I still only have a collection of about 8 or 10 games though.

everyone gamer knows about flashcarts though, i dont think this is gonna be the big money making plan nintendo want it to be
if people like us that know about roms and cant get them then we would move on to something else

I've had a DS since they launched. Got one Holiday 2004. Like I said though, didn't find my way into the flash cart scene until October last year.

I was into emulators and roms before hand too, so that added a little bit.
And my friend was the one who told me about a device that plays downloaded games on the DS.

Lol. I barely knew what a flashcart was supposed to be but I knew it was for playing pirated games so I kept on bothering the people who brought them to school.

    Now I'm just a silly hypocrite. :)

I've been into emulators and roms forever. I started with an NES emulator back when I was 8 or 9 and it just went from there. I just never even thought of seeing if there was something like that but as a cart for the DS.

yes but now you all know.
if your DS broke would you go buy a new DS and then pay for the games?

what im trying to say is, this could be a bad thing for nintendo in the long run.
the 3ds is backwards compatible so DS roms wont be available for a long time, obviously they are going to continue this policy with the 3ds too
its gonna put a lot of people off, people wont buy it if they have an alternative where they can get free games

    Very true!
But, I would rather support them than get free games.
If there is a way to play roms on the 3DS, then I will buy the games because the ones I want aren't crap.

only time will tell but i think nintendo could well have shot themselves in the foot.
if they manage to block piracy altogether it will be the end of them, sony would ease up slightly on piracy(just enough) and sell millions of consoles

This already has proven not to hold true though. The Wii is backwards compatible with the GC, but they aren't throwing a fuss over the GC section, as the GC is no longer a profitable venture for Nintendo. The DS is currently Nintendo's biggest source of profit, so they are trying to defend that in every possible way. Once the 3DS comes out, there isn't even a guarantee that we will continue to see regular DS games.

They shouldn't of taken any roms down , i buy most DS games if i really like them (heartgold, world ends with you) i use roms as a sort of demo to get an idea for a game , if its a long lasting game i usually buy them. If ESA and companys are going to be nasty and take all of the roms down thats just going to get people mad which equals people sharing the roms about even more , not very clever on their part.
