Actually, they are once again making a console which focus is mainly raw power and raw graphics. Which is exactly what PSP always was. Well, for all its matter I am fine with it. I can't imagine Sony doing it different. Its their share of the market .
Sony would be stupid to not make the NGP be able play some kinda of emulation or backwards compatable for ps2 due to the huge sales that the ps2 had.
PS2 games are already released, so Sony could milk them for even more money if they put them on PSN for the NGP. It would be stupid not to. Sony will probably create a built in PS2 emulator for NGP like the built in PS1 emulator for PSP. I can't wait. If the NGP can emulate PS2, chances are, somebody or some team will create a Gamecube emulator for it.
I don't think Sony will make a PS2 emulator on the NGP until the PS3 gets one, and at the moment Sony is more interested at reselling HD versions of the PS2 games.
I think eventually they will be offering "PS2 Classics" on the PSN. It just won't be a release-feature of the NGP, like the PSOne games for the PSP weren't added til sometime later.
I think it would be useless considering ps2 has only 2 shoulder buttons. PS2 software belongs on the big systems. ALOT of titles wont function as well as they should without all 4 shoulder buttons. I mean they will function, but control will be knocked down a few points. Using the touch screen to replace to 2 missing buttons will just not do.
The touch screen on the back could replace the extra shoulder buttons. If it's multitouch I don't see it as much of a problem besides some comfort issues.
Yeah, that wouldnt be comfortable to me. Alot of ps2 games use all 4 shoulder buttons. And one wouldnt be as effective as they use to be. Especially in high action games or fighters.
