New gaming laptop

    depends if you have a lot of brown/blackouts or not. they have their uses, but they arent necessarily cheap.

    If you have a laptop you don't really need a UPS.

    On a sidenote, look at Compal or custom laptops. They are the actual manufacturers of the laptops. HP and Dell (I think) resell those things (say Compal laptop + brand sticker + 2 year warranty + 'user-friendly' software package, usually doubling the price)

    gaming laptops are nice but they can become obsolete in a few years since you cant upgrade any of the hardware(or drivers) except ram and the hard drive. if you want long term you should go with desktop. and i hear theirs a overheat problem but i personally never had that problem, well not to where it was fatal any ways

    are drivers for the gfx card THAT important? i update mine once in, say, six months, and i got the omega drivers a few days ago, so that means i'm not updating until february (yay, new drivers for a birthday present! :p).

    they're pretty important. The problem with laptops is no-one will take responsibility for producing the driver updates. The GFX chip manufacturers say it's the laptop manufacturer's responsibility, and the laptop manufacturers aren't interested once they have your money.

    but then, the desktop computers' manufacturers would be the responsible ones for updating the drivers, right?

    no because graphics cards are often sold outside of desktop systems, something that is extremely rare with laptops.

    change my view, dont use the laptop for gaming, unless your using the AC adaptor instead of the batteries. the laptop batteries sucks, even for simple things like browsing the net and simple typing.

    id suggest u custom build ur laptop it is cheaper and is more powerful like for euro 1g u can get a laptop that is 3x stronger than the ones u buy prebuilt in the stores

    it really isn't that simple to custom build a laptop. It can be done, but its not easy.
