New firmware for original R4 released - Wood R4

I'm sorry I misread your post. Forgive me. From what I know of there aren't many disadvantages of not having it. One is there's certain items you can get via pokewalker. Don't know if the items are not obtainable in the game though. Another is that you can get pokemon you wouldn't normally get until you beat the Elite Four. But I don't feel it's that different than just playing it and obtaining it later. Hope I helped any.

 

Alright so after you beat the elite four you can get pokemon you wouldn't normally get unless you used a pokewalker? Alright.

 

The only Pokewalker specific Pokemon I know of right now are the special Pikachu from the Yellow Forest event. Other than that, I've seen and used my friend's Pokewalker, and there are no real perks about it that warrants the extra cost of the real game.

alternatively you can open the setting file
edit the name of the skin manually
and write a the name of a working skin
(the other day I made a mistake so I have to do this way)

 

That's a pretty good idea to. I'll have to remember that for next time.

 

Just my luck....just spend $50 on an Acekard 2i because my original R4's compatibility sucked, and now I find out about this *facepalm*

 

I'm just wondering if this firmware works if i have the R4 1.18 in traditional chinese?

i think it should. as long as you have the original R4.

 

i just installed wood r4 1.06 and it seems to work but now in ENGLISH which makes me extremely happy.

Latest version does not (yet) work with dutch version of Professor Layton and Pandora's Box, ROM 4234. The game starts up OK but hangs seemingly randomly when playing.
