New Console Controller?

They are centralized at the bottom of the controller between the palm grips. I really like the positioning on nearly every game controller I used though (yes, even the N64 controller). Really, I've never heard of the main gripe with the PS being the control sticks on the controller though.

I find the joystick placement on the PS controllers a lot more uncomfortable compare to the GC and Xbox, wrong word, I mean awkward. I find them also quite loose so it's harder to be precise with it versus the other controllers.

The GC controller is probably the comfiest controller ever btw.

And yeah, even though the N64 controller looked like a mess, it functioned well.

MS did take the Dreamcast's controller design, technically (although Microsoft did have a hand in the Dreamcast's development so, eh).

Agreed. It is the best controller I've ever held.

I wasn't a huge fan of the GCN Controller. I always liked the Xbox controller. And then I don't really like the PS controller. Too small, and then since the guys at Sony are bunch of geniuses, they didn't put rumble, so I have a flimsy feeling controller, and then I also have one of the faulty ones too, so that' great. I really need to get a new controller, probably a third party one.

Both of my Sony controllers work wonderfully. Rumble, tilt, everything.

I got a faulty one. So the control sticks (Mainly the left one) gets stuck very easily, and then I got one that doesn't have rumble. But they work good, just don't like the shape, that's all. I have big hands, and I find the controller small, and it lost a lot of weight because of the lack of rumble, so it feels flimsy. But I should get a 3rd party one. I just want one with a better shape and such.

The ones at the PS3's launch (without rumble) sucked in general. I know friends who own them and they're near unusable because the joysticks are run down, lean certain directions and feel like a cheap toy. It's not because Sony was 'geniuses', it's because Sony was under legal troubles regarding the rumble. I guess they caved in and through some money at the patent owners.

    Dratically different?

Just hand grips is all I see, remember the sticks were a later addition.

But yes, that is correct about them being seperate (and it was an add-on drive, phillips won simply because they thought sony would get too powerful-seems like it was destined to happen)

The 64 controller isn't related to the ps1 controller in ANY form, I mean...wtf?

I liked this controller, though it seems the dreamcast took some slight cues...and then the Duke controller aka xbox 1.0 controller came around.

    :D

    What was your gripe?

The stick was in a better spot, though this meant fighters were basically stuffed-the dpad is harder to operate.

Lucky only one of my gc games needed the dpad.

I heard otherwise, something about...too much to put in and battery life.

I'm glad they have both in them now, but they never use the sixxaxis.

I was fine with a g1 sixxaxis until the ps3 it came with went belly up, so I now have the better dual shock 3.

I didnt find it as comfortable to use as ps/n64/dc controllers.

Strange, I found it better in terms of comfort and use.

But not everyone is the same, I knew a few people who prefered the big xbox duke controllers :(

i loved my xbox fatty controller (aka the duke) and now im stcuk with "bumpers" instead of the nicely placed black and white buttons above the "Y" button, i know i might sound insane but im missing 2 fingers on my left hand (index & middle) which makes it a bitch to hit the "bumpers" i can hit the left trigger with my ring finger with ease but i have to "nubb" the left bumper which surprising hard to do even though i lost my fingers 20 years ago and it totally breaks all concentration to do so...but its common microsoft bullshit to copy someone elses design then make it theirs since now the only difference between the PS2 and 360 controllers besides the button labels is the positioning of the d-pad and they just turned R2/L2 into "triggers" instead of buttons..way to be creative microsoft....not

my $25 dollar MadCatz (yes madcatz haha) 360 controller has outlasted 2 NEW 360 controllers

madcatz : ive got over 1,000 hours worth of gameplay on it plus thats not including me using it has a pc mouse and controller and im using it right now because my wireless mouse bit the dust and this pc doesnt support PS/2 mouses (no port for it)

360: not even 700 hours between both brand new controllers (microsoft brand not third party)

though this is the only console ive ever seen a madcatz beat the original design (in quality and performance) i cringed when i had to buy the madcatz because of my prior experiences with the brand (on Xbox1, ps1, and ps2).. i used to badmouth madcatz horribly, now i love them...

My mate had mad catz wireless controllers for his old xbox...they died shorty after purchase.

    Guess you got lucky.

no i got smart and refused to use wireless console controllers... fuck batteries man haha.. my madcatz is wired (i shouldve noted that) i dont dont have a huge tv so i dont sit far from the console anyway so the benefits of wireless dont apply to me at all since i've been lookin out for controller cords ever since NES haha

*edit i have 3 of them now and they all work wonderfully

I actually found that being in close proximity to a TV made wired controllers even more unbearable. Having the wired Rock Band instruments on a TV is absolute hell, a mess and they get tangled often.

yea that'd be aweful.. i can image the wire monster that would create haha

and the wires for my madcatz controllers dont get tangled with each other, but they do spin around themselves causing them to pull harder on the wire if you move around.. its a battle i fight about once a week so its not as much of a problem now that im used to it..

but some people just need to learn controller manors :D

like the people who wrap a N64 controller up on the "L & R" buttons that bugs the shit outta me... its like "how rude can you get?" haha... you dont wrap the cord around the controller in any case you just wrap up the cord .. i use bread ties/trash ties to hold the wires together
