    ;)

Coming from a true final fantasy lover each and every ff game has a diffrent story line and world setting accept for the following

Final Fantasy X and X-2 have the same story line and characters with newer ones added in X-2

Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy Tactics A-2: Grimoire of The Rift have same story plots, same characters, and are based on the same world of Ivalice, just diffrent playing style.

Every final fantasy game has a character named CID....usually the airship person or w/e.

The best final fantasy game to start with is Final Fantasy VII...there are also alot of spin off games from it. And the lead character Cloud Strife is the most well known Hero in video game history....along with his nemesis Sephiroth who is the most well known Villian in video game history.

FFVII is the most well known RPG game of ALL TIME and i recomend starting there....then play 8...skip 9....play X and X-2 then skip to XII....ur skipping toXII because XI is online only....its the best selling/most played MMORPG atm.....i've been playing it for 10 years and im still playing today.

Also a quick note if you have never played Kingdom Hearts then you should....they mixed Final Fantasy characters and plot into disney plots and added a new plot for kingdom hearts characters.....so play that too....OMG kingdom hearts is the shit...but you have to play the first one, then chain of memories on GBA, then 2 or you will not understand it....and its better to familiarize urself with final fantasy and disney before trying to play it and get the most out of it. Kingdom hearts is for DIE HARD FF FANS and Disney lovers alike....its sounds kiddy....but trust me...it aint

but the you go play in this order

VII (Once you play this watch the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children...awsome movie...it's set two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII)
    VIII
    X
    X-2
    XII
    Kingdom hearts
    Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories
    Kingdom Hearts 2

then when ur done play a game called Ehrgeiz...it has Cloud, Tifa, and Sephiroth from VII in it...its a fighting game

once thats done you should be hooked completly....by just playing seven u should be hooked....but once ur done with those then look intot hese other titles

    Final Fantasy
    Final Fantasy II
    Final Fantasy III
    Final Fantasy IV
    Final Fantasy V
    Final Fantasy VI
    Final Fantasy IX
    Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series
    Final Fantasy Tactics Series
    Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

then if you really love Final Fantasy then try out the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI

the best MMORPG around...its 12 bucks a month but its well worth it...the game is on PS2, 360, Mac, and PC and all systems play together so if im on a 360, ur on a pc, my bro is on a PS2, and my cuzin is on his mac....we will still be playing together...chracters look no diffrent from system to system...no lag. perfect streaming, great quality graphics, fun party system....the best.....trust me

FF IX is awesome, so I wouldn't recommend skipping it. Additionally as far as I'm concerned XI deviates from the concept too far to be considered a real Final Fantasy game.

my friend and I once made a list of the things that consistent throughout the series:

There's always a character called 'Cid'
with the exception of X-2, the main character always has a sword
there's 3 levels of main elemental magic
there's always an airship of some description
there's always mega bosses called 'weapons'

Those are the ones I remember

tru final fantasy IX WAS a good game...but it was way too childish....and Final Fantasy XI is more than welcome to be considered a Final Fantasy game...chocobos, airships, weapons, CID........all there plus the same summons OH YEA....Ifrit,and Shiva will appear in EVERYFINAL FANTASY GAME....but anyways XI is a great game....i'm guessing youve never took the time to actually play it and make it tolvl 75 on more than one char....or even 30 on ONE........thats why you wouldnt consider

I've never played it. I don't consider the MMO aspect of it compatible with the concept of the series.

well it is...trust me.....its worthy of the title Final Fantasy...and the MMO concept going through ur head is that its like WoW and shit and its not its the only MMO of its kind.....i dont know how to describe it but my brother lives in Vana'Diel....he goes to work in real life....to pay for final fantasy XI....

    Mario and Bowser say hi.

DO NOT SKIP IX! It's perhaps the best FF in terms of gameplay and the story isn't bad either. Honestly, in terms of characters, FFIX has the best ones with some really tear-jerking themes and emotions behind them. I just don't understand why all this hate is being directed towards it. Idiocy in my opinion. Also, FF XI the best selling and most played MMO ever? World of Warcraft says hi.

DON'T play FF X-2. It's the epitome of how to ruin a good story. It's like the paragon of milking a cash-cow. I also don't recommend playing FFXI. If you're gonna play an MMO, go for a good one.

If Kingdom Hearts (which are good games) are considered to be mature enough, then FF IX is purely for adults.

ummmm...kingdom hearts...i never considered an FF game....so IX is still to childish....

FFXI is nothing compared to WoW.....i stated tht before...and as it may be an opinion....FFXI IS the biggest subscribed, expanded, played, and startegized MMO on the market....statistics show...by the end of 2011.....WoW will cease to exist....watch and learn

32*20,000 = 640,000 characters. Compare that to 9 million subscribers to WoW, each with up to 50 characters. No chance.

...ummm....dude...maybe you should play it before giving a reveiw...if you ask me u dont deserve the title Moderator....you should be smart enough to know that you cant judge something unless you've tried it and as you stated before you have NEVER played the game....so technically....all you know is what someone else has told you...and yes...wikipedia is edited by people like you and me....so wikipedia is not 100% accurate....just someone else giving a reveiw on the topic.......use your brain kiddo and you may learn a thing or 2

    heads up

FFXI has the ability of having over 120,000 characters on a single server at once.....very high bandwith from a rich company such as Square-Enix

true FFXI only allows 32 characters....under 1 handle on your account....there are 3 handles for each account...which amounts up to 96 characters available to be created for ONE account....

Ok each race can start in any of the three major cities you choose, Windurst, San D'oria, or Bastok....

All races can be any job they choose...although the race stats decide on MP, HP, STR, DEX, VIT, INT, etc. so some jobs are not for some races...BUT are still able to be used

there are 6 starting jobs to choose from

    * Black Mage
    * Monk
    * Red Mage
    * Thief
    * Warrior
    * White Mage

and then at lvl 18 you can do a quest to gain access to what is called a sub-job which is two jobs into one....so one may be a THF/WAR (theif/warrior) or a White Mage/Black Mage or even Monk/Warrior..... its the best job system around...

at lvl 20 you gain access to mounts...of course chocobos...all the same until you raise one on your own...the type of egg you get and how u raise it will determine speed and color of the chocobos

at lvl 30 you can then do Special Job Quests to unlock new Jobs....the Unlockable Jobs are as follows

    # Bard
    # Beastmaster
    # Blue Mage
    # Corsair
    # Dancer
    # Dark Knight
    # Dragoon
    # Ninja
    # Paladin
    # Puppetmaster
    # Ranger
    # Samurai
    # Scholar
    # Summoner

all having the ability to be main or sub jobbed

at lvl 75 (MAX LVL) the game is acctually even more exciting with even more stuff to do and more enemies and items to collect....

The Auction House System is superb the best ever in an MMORPG...look that up and call me a liar....its impossible...nothing beats the AH system here 100% sure on that

their are also Crafting jobs and they are as follows

    *Carpenter
    *Alchemist
    *Bonecrafter
    *Clothcrafter
    *Blacksmith
    *Goldsmith
    *Culinarian
    *Tanner
    *Fisherman

the crafting system is the best ever on an MMORPG....... YOU DEFINATLLY WONT MAKE ME OUT A LIAR ON THAT!!!!!!!!

FFXI is all around the best

    Plus to top it off

    it goes cross platform

PC, MAC, PS2, Xbox 360, and soon to be PS3 all combine in together....so no matter what system you play from...your still playing with everyone

NO OTHER GAME HAS EVER CROSS PLATFORMED TO AS MANY SYSTEMS AS THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!.....not with the ability to play together on each one...that is

so look at the facts homie and maybe you'll understand that maybe once in ur glorious moderating life...........your wrong

!i!i!i!i!i!iNOT TRYING TO SOUND HARSH OR HATEFUL.....DO DISRESPECT INTENDED....I JUST KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT.....I'VE BEEN PLAYING THE DAMN GAME FOR 10 YEARS....I THINK I MIGHT KNOW!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i

    OH YEA ONE MORE THING

ok 32 servers......96 characters for each player on each server....if one was to completly fill the character ammount that 96x32= 3072 characters for ONE PERSON....ok then let's see

    120,000 people on one server...with 32 servers...that amounts to 120,000x32= 3,840,000 people at once playing...doesnt mean more can't subscribe...
hell not all 9 million of those people subscribed still play WoW........around 6 million of those subscriber's haved stopped payment...but are still subscribed

ok then here we go for the finally

3,840,000 people can play at once

.......here is the big one....WoW only supports 1,200,000 players at once with only 60,000 on one server at once...half that of FFXI

With that concept....the servers would not be azble to be completly filled

FFXI has over 12 million subscribers...not all of which play...but think....WoW has been around for 2 years BEFORE FFXI....thats 2 Years of subscribers that FFXI couldnt receive at the time

around 1 million people log into WoW each day on average....the average number of clients logging into FFXI is 3 million a dayseeing as most people leave the game running at all times to make money selling goods in their bazarr...i do

WoW has nothing on FFXI...and...just to compete with them...they upped their max lvl from 70 to 80.... 5lvls higher than FFXI.....FFXI still stays at 75...because they know they are better and WoW will just fade away in the next 2 years

You are giving no sources therefore I assume you are talking crap.

Also your arguments are flawed. My status as an Administrator has nothing to do with my opinions about games, nor my ability to review them. Nothing I have said on this topic constitutes a review. I have actually seen people playing FFXI, so I am not basing my opinions on hearsay.

Blizzard are also an extremely rich company, so that argument is useless. If you want I can easily find out which providers Square-Enix and Blizzard get their bandwidth from. I doubt you'll find much different between them.

If you stop paying your WoW fees; you are no longer subscribed. The very word 'subscribed' implies that you are paying your subscription fees. Therefore there are approximately 9 million people paying their subscription fees. (not to mention the tens of thousands of players on private servers who aren't, but that is against the terms of service anyway).

I am not answering your simultaneous users statements as I don't know the capacity of the realms, but given the number of realms there are I'd say 1.2 million simultaneous is stupidly low, especially if it's 60,000 per realm. Remember that Oceania, Latin America, Europe and the US are all separate zones, each with their own realms. If I log into my client the only realms I see are the US ones. If I install an EU copy of the game, I only see the EU realms. There are FAR more than 32 US realms... In fact, I count 243 of them. (possibly including Oceania and Latin American ones). Even in the EU Zone, there are 37 realms for the French speakers alone (there are about 3-4x that for the English speakers, and also dedicated realms for Spaniards and Russians). (information obtained from the realm status pages).

The level cap was not raised to compete with FFXI, you're just pulling arguments out of thin air for the sake of it. The level cap was raised because of the new content in the lich king expansion, and even when you reach max level there's loads of heroic dungeons and endgame content (new dungeon coming in the next patch).

Pull your head out of your a$$ and accept that I am no more wrong than you. What I have said about FFXI is my OPINION. therefore that is what I think of the game and I am not wrong. Your opinion may well be different; but that does not invalidate mine or make me wrong.

Ten years? I don't think so. 6 years at most.

the release date for the PC version is 2000....so 8 years....maybe an overexaggeration has occured in my comment but i got the game the day it was released on pc...2 yrs ltr came ps2...oh and on FFXI ALL SERVERS....connect to ALL REGIONS!!!!!

i am on Ramuh Server and the Japanese version, american version, etc. are all the same....i can turn my USA version into japanese version justv by changing language...so every player gets the same aspect of the game...oh yea and the GM's acctually appear to you and talk to you on there....unlike in WoW where they dont give a shit...im just stating my opinion...i said that earlier..... but this arguement/debate will continue unless one of us stops or the thread is closed.... but you do have to admit this is pretty entertaining right lol

  15. Loonylion

    Loonylion Administrator Staff Member

I've never had a problem contacting gms in WoW, and if I really wanted to connect my US copy to EU servers I could change the realmlist easily. the reason its separated is because the chat is bad enough without everyone speaking different languages.
