The new 4 movies are called Rebuild of Evangelion.

    Seperated in four movies:
Evangelion 1.0: You Are [Not] Alone (released 2007)
Evangelion 2.0: You Can [Not] Advance (released last June, 2009)
    Evangelion 3.0
    Evangelion 4.0

There were a few changes as well.
-Some parts of Tokyo-3, Angels, and even the Evas are computer graphics
-The Nerv and Seele logos were modified but still retained their anime counterparts
-Most of the Angels from the series were revised and some were never seen in the Rebuild Series.
-The whole story plot was revised unlike the series and the ovas.
-Asuka's last name was changed to Shikinami. And becomes the test pilot of Eva 03 intead of Toji.
-A new character named Mari Makinami Illustrious, pilots Eva 05.
-Kaworu Nagisa appeared on the moon and pilots Eva 06.

Kenshin isnt as bad as Eva(the ending had me having Mind grenages for a week) except for the blood and stuff but i was already watching the non-Cartoon network version of DBZ anyway

I'm aware that this topic is old...but I'm a big fan!

From the angel fights to the relationships in the anime, and yes...the ending was weird.

I actually thought (from what my friends told me) that the director went suicidal (as in he wanted to kill himself...something to do with the earth quakes was mentioned...my mates have too many therories :( ) and rushed it.

Oh well, it's still one of the best anime's I ever seen, anyone going for that "rebirth" movie trilogy?

    I just got the first.

    "You are (NOT) alone"

It's a point to point story on the first 6 eps, however some content is changed, small bits like the animation being enhanced with cgi and better animation, to new or changed scenes.

The positron rifle was picked up by unit 0 right-in this it's air lifted because unit 0 wasn't even activated (and they skipped the reactivation test)

The pryamid shapped angel (don't know name :( ) actually changed shapes as it fires.

    And Rei smiles...cute :)

As well as (thanks tpo the end of movie spoiler) more evangelions-YES MORE OF THOSE THINGS RUNNING AMOK!

I can't wait for the next one.

    "You can (NOT) advance"

    REI ALWAYS SMILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (in doujinshis)

and by the way it's not a trilogy, it's the Rebuild quadruple movies!
with the fourth movie bringing a new ending
making this series with 4 endings!

the direcor, Hideaki Anno, wasn't suicidal, he only had some...mental disorders... but he's still awesome :p

    oh and pyramid thing cough*Ramiel*cough

    PS: Mari Illustrious Makinami :D

Ah I see, while I looked up the names of the angels I only memorised adam, lillith, and Rei (I think she counts...).

Honestly, if they used the names in the anime I might have remembered them rather than going "OMG LOOK ANGEL 5 IS ATTACKING!"

I'm aware of the origins of the angels names but it's not somthing I would be able to remember...

As for the director...poor dude :(

I only just found out about the fourth, but considering it's kinda an alternitive ending...should it be considered a 4th movie or an expansion with alternitive theroies?

All I know is I'm gonna get all 4, and try to find that "end of evangelion" somehow...after hearing about Rei I'm drawn closer...

awww what about Kaworu? you forgot him?...

I dont think the director is a poor dude if you know what I mean ::)

personally, I would just call it Evangelion ending #4

He's weird...and ends up wanting to die.

I hate people who want to throw their lives away.

What I meant was before the studio became what it was now-back when this being created, if not for this show reaching cult status we wouldn't have seen anything else from these guys..apparently the studio didn't have much money...by the final few eps they were runnign out of money to make.

Hence why some of what happened was recycled footage.

yeah by the end of the series around episode 22/23 they really were in the red
as you can see the animations start to lack, they use sketches
basically if this series didn't make it up, they would die

Wait, there are 4 endings? I only know of the one where Shinji is in EVA-01 and Rei is in Lilith form and somehow Shinji makes Rei kill everyone except him and Auska leaving them as the only 2 on earth. What are the other 2, I know the 4th is unknown due to being in production.

the two others are in the last episode, one is basically the "CONGRATULATIONS YOU BASTARD"
the other one is during Instrumentality, when Shinji dreams of a normal high school life, it's not really ending, but since there were many spin-offs about that part, I suppose we can all call it an ending
