the recession is the perfect time for negotiation. people are stuck with product no one can afford and it only cost them money to keep it. any sale above cost is normally acceptable. normal markup is 50% above cost.

and i have had a nvidia Gforce fx 5500 in a dell dimension for years. doesn't this pc only have a 200W psu?
don't understand why it's such a problem. older video cards are cheaper? it only needs to send video to the monitor and S-video to the tv. it's for watching netflix and youtube/ internet browsing. it's not a gaming pc, probably dont got any games...

if your looking for just that stuffs in older cards, get an x800 pro. its super dirt cheap if you can still find one.

or if you really want dirt cheap dont bother upgrading the card ;)

Thats just it,... with a recession and less people buying, includes MSRP (inflated) from losing monies, look at the stock exchange. all prices have been priced in since aug 2007.

The only time your gonna see a drastic price change moving into the lower reasonable price, is when its DISCOUNTINUED. Then again there is nothing wrong with that.

    A. Upgrade your power source so you have more options...in LONGTERM. Just look at this thread majority has said get a new ps. Simple as that.

    B. Chain Retails will not negotiate with you, the reason why I listed TigerDirect is A: alot of returns, cannot sell new, B: refurbs by the lot, so reselling to the public is easier, C: sometimes they have promo's that makes it worthwile.

    C. Newegg, Fry's, TigerDirect vs Ebay, Uwin, Ubid type stuffs with less risks as you can return it via RMA for chain outlets.

Anyhow someone else already posted pre ati x cards... before AMD bought ATI. = x800 to x1300.

this may help you visually at your options for your stock PS.. just some more options based on Stock PS. your Stock PS has 22 amps.

I do not promote this site or affliated with it, just for a visual point of references to see better choices then you can go hunt the net for a cheaper price.

Overall I rather just upgrade the PSU, since finding a lower speced power consumption vid card won't be PITA. But thats me.

upgrading the PSU is generally the best idea, but some prebuilt computer manufacturers deliberately use non-standard PSUs to stop you doing that.

i dont know, it's a dell made dell bought pc, not from a pc store.
but honestly, there is no 128mb cards from a few years ago when pc's didn't blow a circuit if you turn a desk lamp on at the same time?
it's crazy. but i will just let this topic rest for now. i'll have to keep searching.

StarTech makes alot of OEM PS, irregular sizes... such as Dell, Hp, Gateway... for folks that didnt know.
