    Japanese kids learn less than 2000 in school.

    Chinese is harder than Japanese.

    Pokemon uses purely kana.

    Rosetta Stone falls short of real classes in school.

    There are loanwords from Chinese, English, Portuguese, German, etc. If you know katakana, you know a significant portion of the nouns in Japanese. (Chinese loanwords are not written in katakana since they've been around since the beginning.)

    Inb4 I know Japanese from anime desu.

    Well, I'm learning both Japanese and Chinese and Chinese is certainly harder, so I can't argue there.
