Go to those options, second from the bottom, swap it. You're probably on kanji instead of hiragana. Kanji doesn't show the translated text.

I'm kind of new to roms and I've been playing the prepatched v1.1 english patch for the past few days.
Is there a way to load my previous save state in the v1.4 or future patches?

It's already in hiragana (I think). I'm talking about the main menu part (the menu that pops up immediately after pressing x). Is this supposed to be translated? If I press on the actual green option button, all the options there are translated, but not on the main menu. Is there something wrong with my game or is this correct?

That might be why options are only at 31%, then. I dunno, I'm not touching the translation until it's more complete. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their translating at this point either. There are gonna be a lot of inconsistencies in the order of what's translated for at least a few more days.

Yes, just make sure the new patched rom has the SAME name as your save file (excluding the .nds)

I know that im not dumb.what im asking is why they cant translate the remaining 2% and 69% of item and option while in the german translation the item and option are translated 100%.

Because different people to different translations.

Because those doing the English translation decided those weren't as important as the German translation team thought they were. That 2% of items might be items that don't have an English name yet, and the options are pretty low priority, since the start menu as a whole is pretty straightforward. I'm sure it wouldn't take anybody too long, but I don't know how people are picking what files to translate either. They could be going in order, and people could just be translating random blocks of text. It's hard to say.

So I what I did was rename the v1.4rom to black.nds then I made a save from my point in the v1.1 rom and named it black.dst
Then I ran the v1.4 rom and loaded the save and it started up... but as soon as I try to open a menu it freezes...
I'm at the part where plasma has frozen the entire town if that is maybe an unstable place to transfer the game or something.

The 1.4 English Black pre-patched gives load rom errcode= -4 on TTDS

If anyone knows of a possible fix, I'd be very thankful.

Are you using the MediaFire ROM, or the TurtleShare ROM?

The TurtleShare ROM. I can't use MediaFire because it's blocked in China with a lot of other sites, and I'm stuck here for a month.

Are you using the latest YSMenu from RGF?
And make sure you are using Jhon591's latest dats.

Unaware that the V1.4 was out, Will sort it out later.

Some times when you are a wake we are a sleep xd.

Plus these patchers are coming out thick and fast.

I can't get it running on R4i SDHC Upgrade Revolution (not a 3DS one) and I have the most recent TTMenu on my card... I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong.
