At first I was going to state its going to be like the Puzzle Quest games but it does not seem anything like that. So I am not sure what the hell they mean by Puzzle RPG.

lol I love that battle system, because it keeps the originality of all DQ games... If they do change it, I may not even feel compassionate for that game...

the battle system in dragon quest IX looks beautiful and i think its got like a limit break system in play that'll be tasty

Professor Layton 4 includes unlockable Professor Layton RPG

Most American gamers have yet to get their copies of Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, and Level-5 has already released news that will make you yearn for the fourth game. At last night's LEVEL-5 VISION conference, the company announced that Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute will include a bonus game, Professor Layton and London Life.

The Brownie Brown-developed London Life is an RPG that, according to Level-5's Akihiro Hino, will last over 100 hours. It was originally announced for the ROID cell phone game service -- we have yet to learn whether it will still be released there in addition to DS. Devil's Flute will be out on November 26 in Japan.

Level-5 invites players into a 'Fantasy Life' ... in a doomed town

In addition to the London Life RPG inside Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute, Level-5 announced another collaboration with Brownie Brown, the Sword of Mana developer and Mother 3 co-creator: Fantasy Life, a town simulation in the vein of Animal Crossing.

Fantasy Life occurs in the world of Fantazeal, which shows prophesied signs of impending destruction after a shadow passes over the moon. If this were a normal RPG, you'd portray some kind of teenaged hero fighting to save the world from this catastrophe, but in this game, it basically doesn't seem to matter: you choose a job and undertake daily "Life Quests" related to that job, to improve your wealth and happiness levels. The game includes local and online wireless functionality, allowing others to visit your town.

Aside from Level-5 and Brownie Brown, Fantasy Life features more big names. Nobuo Uematsu is composing an opening theme, as well as ending themes for the ending of each job's "life," and character design is being done by Hideo Minaba, a Final Fantasy series alum who most recently designed the characters in Little King's Story.

Fantasy Life sounds awesome, plus Uematsu is doing songs for it. It can't be a bad game with him doing music (it's actually one of the laws of physics, look it up)

Yep, it seems we need a non-farming harvest moon game.

Anyway, level-5 would be a great developer if they release games to the English market faster.

Contact creator's next game: 'Sakura Note'

Marvelous Entertainment revealed Contact director Akira Ueda's next project, Sakura Note, with a teaser web site. According to 1UP's summary of a Famitsu preview of the game, the game involves two mysterious sakura trees in two towns. One is blooming late in the year, and the other is dying. This is somehow connected to a new arrival in your neighborhood, and subsequent attacks against her by ghosts. In order to solve these two mysteries, you explore the nostalgic scenery of two neighboring towns, "talking to people and unlocking new story episodes as you go along."

The game is being created by an all-star team. As on Level-5's Fantasy Life, Nobuo Uematsu and Hideo Minaba are contributing music and character design, respectively. Kingdom Hearts' Kazushige Nojima is writing the story, and Half-Minute Hero producer Kenichiro Takagi is producing. Sakura Note will be out in Japan November 5.

From what I seen its hasn't released yet in any region other than Japan and that was in Dec '08, but nothing on any other release dates.

Layton 3 is a part of the trilogy, so it's not a RPG, it's a puzzle game just like its predecessors.

Marvelous Entertainment unveiled the first details behind Sakura Note today, a nostalgia-twinged adventure game for the Nintendo DS. It'll come out November 5 in Japan, with a special soundtrack CD available for customers who preorder in that country; no overseas release has been announced.

Sakura Note is immediately notable for the staff working on it. Nobuo Uematsu, well known for his contributions to the Final Fantasy series, is handling the music, and another old FF veteran, Hideo Minaba, is leading the visual department. Kazushige Nojima, writer of most of the Kingdom Hearts games, is doing the story here, and Contact designer Akira Ueda is the chief designer of this game as well. The whole thing's being produced by Kenichiro Takagi, who's fresh off completing Half-Minute Hero for Marvelous.

As far as the game itself goes, it's a story-heavy, overhead-view adventure set within two towns and the surrounding countryside. A new girl, Nanami Yoshida, has just moved in to your neighborhood, and apparently she's being targeted by a local band of ghosts and ghouls. It seems this has something to do with a pair of sakura (cherry blossom) trees that dominate the landscape of both towns, one slowly withering and another one blooming deep into the summertime, as if to make up for its weaker sibling. You, a normal boy, decide to get to the bottom of both mysteries, talking to people and unlocking new story episodes as you go along.

Remember a few months back when that EarthBound lookalike game made by Level 5 hit Japanese magazines and sites? If you don’t, see here.

Well, this time, there’s a completely different game that looks somewhat like MOTHER 3. It’s called Fantasy Life, is for the Nintendo DS, and also happens to be another Level 5 game. But Brownie Brown, the studio that did all the art and programming for MOTHER 3, is involved as well, so it’s no wonder that the graphics give off a somewhat similar vibe. Also, Nobuo Uematsu is doing the music The game’s planned to be released in Japan sometime in 2010.
