My Limewire died...

Yeah, the problem is RIAA, MPAA and the feds. They throw traps onto BT/P2P to catch "evil pirates" so i prefer direct downloads. As far as non-commercial virii, only getting warez/games for consoles along with a little common sense will keep you safe on direct download. Obviously, Final Fantasy 10 is not 452kb and an .exe.

And I have never heard of commercial console virii, except for the diddy kong ds one that good ol' nintendy sent out.

From what I hear, Nintendy released a fake version of the Diddy Kong Racing DS Rom soon after it was released into the internet, similar to the way DS dumpers do (start on a small server, expand, etc). Upon boot it would wipe the DS's BIOS and system files, making it unbootable. There may have been an AP message displayed while it does it, I don't remember.

The only problem was that the small circle found out what it was after it destroyed their DSes and it didn't go much further. However, going around on a seedy romsite may lead you to Diddy Kong's Evil DS-malware.

 

I agree that bittorent is the safest way to p2p download files. Considering that the popular torrent sites have a comment section to say if a download is safe or fake. Although it's up to the end user to read that.

 

If you don't want viruses, use some commonsense. Never understood why people persist in using the term 'Virii' btw, makes no sense whatsoever.

 

No it isn't Technically speaking there is no plural, the 'es' plural is consider more proper

This is the reason i have been using direct downloads instead of torrents.
I remember reading about it being safer for these reasons.
Is there any truth to this?
Or can i safely go back to my good old torrenting days?

 

You need to have some sort of tracker, or ip blocker or something, right?
I read about it awhile ago, but i never really delved into it, and just started using direct downloads.
I don't really download much nowadays anyway, but once in a while it's frustrating to look for a specific thing, while torrents are much easier to find.

LimeWire is going down just like Pirate Bay because Anti-privacy people are kicking their asses (finally, ironic that it took them that long to take it down) I never used LimeWire because it was loaded with shit. 99.9999999999999% of their stuff is either viruses or shit.

 

Make that 90% because I got alot of working Wii games from TPB.

I switched to torrents after that. I had found fucked up shit already and i decided to get the hell away from LW before i found some necro porn.

That said the most fucked up thing i found that i just had to get was a lil bit of DBZ hentai. Lets just say chichi was showing her son how much she loved him.
