Unfortunately it took me until I was 40 to actually like red wine, now I prefer it to white. I think young taste buds will prefer sweet white wine, so try a few of these first, then gradually, over the years you will prefer a drier wine until...one day you will be old (like me) and actually prefer red wine.

Personally speaking, if you don't actually like the stuff you are very lucky and should just drink a sip to be social at very special events. Don't let anyone force you to drink more than you want, they actually just want you to make a fool of yourself, so they don't look bad after being fools too often.
