Ace/Soulrunner-the new style Tool batteries can be used as a normal battery-Ive got one. They are slim and white and have got green lights on it......

    Yeah, I've seen those before.

I didn't need it as the guy who traded me bought a new battery for the PSP Slim I got from him.

I dont need the dual functionability of the battery, its just that the old style is better for the phats and the new style is better for the slims-you put the back cover on and theres no chance of it falling out whilst flashing....

    I sees.

I couldn't get my Phat Pandora battery out of my friends PSP Slim the other day. XD

They work the same, but it's really up to the buyer in the end.

The fat Tool battery sticks out of a slim, and youve got to hold it in place-which is a bit awkward.I paid about £15 for it from a place in the UK,and I got the new white type a lot cheaper from D-Ex.

So I would say go for the new type.....

It does stick out, but it only needs to be used once (unless you brick) and it only takes a few minutes. I didn't actually have to hold mine in when i did my brother's Slim Daxter model. I just placed it in, held it while I started the upgrade, and then gently set it down on my desk. The weight of the PSP was enough to keep the battery in place.

He can get either, but the new style can be used as a normal battery. He should also get one of them adaptors that allows you to use a microsd card instead of them expensive pro-duo's.

But using a micro sd adapter would have slow transfer speeds and isn't advisable unless the user can wait that long.

Ive not noticed any major slowdown.Them Sony sticks are far too expensive so he can buy what he wants

It is hard to tell if a 2000 is hackable by just looking at it unless it is the Ice Silver Daxter model or the White Darth Vader model. Because the newer black 2000 models and the older black 2000 models really look the same.

I'm not endorsing any of these ebay sales, and cannot tell you if the item pictured is in as good a condition as they claim. Just an example of a model which is hackable.
