If you want to support your shitty opinion try referencing some journal articles.

First of all Databank, those sources are not proving your point on why mobile phones are bad in general. Let me ask you this, what is the main function of using a mobile phone? Don't give me "to text others with SMS language compression" crap because that's not even it at all.

Second, I have used mobile phones for five years now along with the texting feature. Has it affected my spelling and grammar skills in any way? I can tell you I am 100% proof that mobile phones don't damage people's written english skills; it's the people that do.

    Yes.

Any further questions? Preferably some related to the topic at hand.

I did read the information on the sites you posted, and I stand corrected: it doesn't prove jack crap about your point that you are trying to make.

Unless, you care to restate your idea that you are trying to get across.

Also, way to go dodging my question. You certainly know how to debate ::)

Those sites are about as legitimate as using wikipedia for an academic source.

Your sites are complete bullshit. It doesn't matter if we read them or not. I could have made that last site, with a little time on angelfire.
I always write out my shit anyway. I actually DESPISE SMS language and I will tell people to fully write out what they're trying to say, including proper punctuation.

Quote something from JSTOR, or an academic journal. Otherwise, don't bother. From this point on out, any baseless claim is not factual, just merely your opinion and therefore, holds absolutely no significance to the argument at hand.

It's equivalent to me saying that cell phones are bad, because that's my opinion. Insignificant.

Your ways of finding excuses for the absence of proof reminds me of someone else we all know, who we never take seriously, and is a good laugh on the IRC.

    Opinions != proof

    That is all.

    Uhh, WHAT?

Texting is just a side feature for mobile phones in which people use SMS texting for. Insanecrazy07 hating SMS texting doesn't prove your idea that mobile phones are bad.

Your debating skills are just insulting to people's intelligence.

Cell phones are a great way to call someone from AAA when your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere...

Like other people have said before me. My opinion, and personal preference proves nothing to your argument.

So please, continue with your baseless claim that cellphones are bad, and the other baseless claim that SMS language is degrading English.

You may state things as your opinion, but as soon as you start screaming fact, then I (we) would like to see some good concrete evidence (reliable sources).

These written sources do not exist unless you cite them.
You may look up on how to cite a written source using MLA, APA, whatever format you choose.

Until then, I assume that these sources of yours are nonexistent and that you have been lying through your teeth since the beginning. I would love for you to prove me wrong, because I am interested in the material at hand. It is a disappointment that your sources so far are far from reputable.

For the record, not only do I despise SMS language, but incorrect spelling and grammar is equally horrendous.

If your sources are books, then just give us the name or ISBN.

lol, well i firmly believe subjects using cellphones must only use it emergency
    calling AAA for auto repair
calling the FBI on a suspected terrorist
Calling your friends when your girlfriends pregnancy test shows a pink line

the list goes on and on

You know what I find ironic about this? Despite the fact that you preach about how people abuse the texting function on mobile phones via SMS texting results in impaired written language skills, you just made several grammatical errors in your post (highlighted in red.)

You should really just give this whole thing a rest. You have ultimately lost your case right there that mobile phones in general somehow damage or impair people's written language abilities (which is, in fact, absolutely false.)

Let me end my post with a question to you, Databank (and I really want you to answer it.) Suppose your car breaks down in the middle of a road, and you are in dire need to contact your local auto-insurance agency for road assistance. What do you do?

If you're like me, I text in real english, and none of that sland crap.

I really don't know how mobile phones woud somehow damage/impair people's written language abilities. Not unless you started using a mobile phone at the age of 1.

I personally hate internet acronyms and slang myself, so I avoid it all the time, especially under a professional working environment. Also, I too, text in proper english as well with no internet acronyms whatsoever.
